Go away if you're looking for angst. This is a milepost post. For those unfamiliar with the saga of smoke-n-dino. Him former abdicator from life via crack and other various resources. Her codie. Both on the bumpy recovery highway since-- wow-- 2001. Currently not living in the same city but still acting like family. I quit smoking (yes, I've got it right this time) a year and a half ago. Dino still smokes. Dino is the sort of person who would pour a drink for an alcoholic... because it will make them feel better. He kind of has the tendency to live in the moment. When I quit smoking, he was semi supportive. Yes, it was a good idea... did I want a cigarette? Dino also seems to believe in the theory of moderation. A person should be able to have one or two. He has applied this theory in his own recovery a few times. His vacations became vacations in hell, but y'know... let go. So it seemed a little ironic to me that he would propose that anyone else vacation in such a southerly location, but y'know... let go. Last week he was smoking while we were visiting and I commented that even after all this time, I still want a cigarette when I smell one and think I could pick up right where I left off. I regretted saying it as soon as it was out of my mouth and expected to have to refuse a kindly offer of a cigarette... which I wanted. Instead - "No, don't. You'll be sorry if you do." Isn't he the cutest THING!
