Book recommendations? - Relationships in Recovery Does anyone have good book recommendations for those in a relationship with someone in recovery? I was seeing someone for a little over a year who has been in recovery for 15 years. A few weeks ago he did not want to continue our relationship. I'm looking for a book that might help shed some light on things - for those who have been in recovery for awhile.

This is the only book I know of. I read most of it, it seemed to have some pretty good ideas in it. It's written for people in recovery, I don't know if you are or are not, but it is a start anyways. Amazon.com: Easy Does It Dating Guide: For People in Recovery: Mary Faulkner, Faulkner: Books

hey, well theres a lot of stuff out there. alanon is great cos its a fellowship of ppl who have experience strength and hope on this issue. bookwise, alanon has some books that help me theres a lot but specifically relationship wise theres "sexual intimacy and the alcoholic relationship" which is mostly aimed at marriage-like partnerships. whats helped for me in this area is all recovery literature really because my relationship with my higher power (God of my understanding) and myself as well as with my family have a HUGE imapct on my current relationships and can influence so many of the issues. ODAT, courage to change, paths to recovery, hope for today, from survival to recovery:growing up in an alcoholic home, opening our hearts:transforming our losses, as we understood...these are some great alanon texts, theres also the AA text the big book which is very interesting reading and has a chapter called "to the wives" which is beneficial, i think, for anyone i any sort of relationship with an alcoholic, wife or family member or other....other texts ive found helpful in this area are god, so so many, the self-help section of the bookstore nowadys should have a good selection, some ive liked are a new earth by eckhart tolle, you can heal your life by louise hay, the language of letting go by melodie beattie, and i forget the authors but others were,,the tender heart and a lot of works by john bradshaw who has texts with a recovery twist. good stuff. and great idea too by the way!
