Hi, - I am very familiar with the 12 step program - It is time for me to "THROW MY SON OUT" - "but cannot" -

I live in the Northern Suburbs of Illinois - with my DH & 16 year old daughter and my son who is an active alcoholic - (20) -

He has had 3 DUI's - no conviction yet -(long story) but courts keep postponing - he lives with us and does go to work.

He has been in and out of hospital's recovery programs - went to AA meetings had a sponsor -

I am grateful that he is still alive and that he is only 20 and still may have a future - which of course is up to him.

Feb 14 - he will go to jail - how long - I don't know? He will be leaving this state after his jail time and we are shipping him out to he natural father home to live.

He really has no clue - my DH is finally realizing what is happening to his stepson - we cannot put him in the hospital again - he won't go - can't force him and attorneys say don't. ( I really don't want to talk hospital's ) but will take him at last resort - last time they put him in psych ward and told us he was a mentally ill. Hipaa - nope - I know all of this -

I have called around - I have a lot of information - but I cannot find a place that will take him in the area -

I need help finding a place that is not a hospital that will take him until the
14th of Feb.

Can someone please direct me as to where I can search next?

I apologize in advance if I have not explained to you what we are looking for.

Hi showme and welcome ~

I'm sorry you're dealing with this, but glad that you found us. I'm also a mom and had to ask my son to leave, when I could no longer watch his self-destructing behavior up close and personal. He's been clean a few years now, but it took some time in jail and I really believe that saved his life. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but I hope you will check out the Friends & Family of Substance Abusers forum. There's a lot of moms who post there and some really good information in the sticky's at the top of the forum.

Welcome again and keep posting. There's a ton of understanding and support here.

I was lurking around trying to find a thread to post in - I appreciate your assistance - so quickly too.
I think this is the biggest forum I have ever been in btw..

I guess I was looking for a place to take him before the court date so I don't have to bring him in hospital.

I want him to detox hard - before he goes to jail - and yes I believe that "JAIL" is the best place for him -
