| same planet...different world | Greetin's to all my pals on the 'Pain Gang'!
ha! Thanks so much for all the conversation about the fibro ... I'm actually getting better about admitting it. Just between us, however - I'm still convinced it's something else. ANYWAY - I've just started on that 'amiltryptyline' (or howEVER it's spelled) it still reminds me of whatever it is in Turkey that makes you pass out halfway through the football game later.... and, following Desert Eyes' advice - I got started out on a 'neensy' dose - 25 mg's or something miniscule instead of the mind-blowing 100mg's of that 'gabby' stuff. So far so good, but I noticed something and am wondering about it - food doesn't taste right. meaning it doesn't taste like ... it always has. I can't eat meat - at ALL. meat tastes... like roadkill smells. serious! and eggs - I couldn't even break one. The thought ran through my head about rooster sem** capsules.... and that , as they say - was that. The only thing I 'want' to eat is fruit and veggies. I decided I'm not gonna mention it to the doc until I'm the OTHER side of the thirty... (who am I kidding ) FIFTY pounds (practicing rigorous honesty here) I gained while going undiagnosed with the thyroid. Just wondering if anyone else is on this - and did YOU have the anti-food thing as well? I mean, I opened a 'dum dum' sucker last weekend just to have something to help with the bad taste in my mouth (which *is* in the paperwork about the drug..that and cottonmouth) and it tasted just like FISH! ![]() LOL! Could make for an INTERESTING thanksgiving, I tell ya that!!!

Hey Barb Side effects suck. I'm not on that particular med, I'm on Depakote and it makes me nauseus. The trick to all these meds is that the side effects start out hard and then wear off in a few weeks. It takes me _four_ weeks for a raise in dose to "settle in" and the side effects to wear off. You might want to write down when you started on the med, and then every week write down if the side effects are lightening up or staying the same. Every person reacts differently, so just cuz it takes me four weeks doesn't mean it will be the same for you. I'd suggest a couple months, because you're just starting out on the med. If the side effects stay the same all the way thru then holler at your doc and see what other meds you can try. Each med has different side effects, so it really pays to experiment until you find one that works good for you. Mike

essential oils... that makes sense! The more I look into this - the major *spiritual cause* type of thing that's coming to me is - it's a manifestation of symptoms that force the person to care about /for themselves. kinda like diabetes teaches the person to be sweet to themselves kind of thing. remember that I was raised by a family of spiritualists, mystics and herbal healers. All trying to come off like they were regular people. Let's talk dysfunctional. *YOU* were allowed to read Dr. Seuss. *I* got to read Edgar Cayce. LOL *YOU* got given a flavored children's aspirin for a headache *I* got told to do a pressure point and a yoga posture. LOL so that makes perfect sense to me and if you're gonna treat something that is forcing you to care for yourself then a oil application would only benefit the situation!
