I live with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and overall pain from literally my head to my toes. Some days are better than others, but lately it has been out of control - my knees hurt like never before. I'm sure its stress related as I'm selling a house I loved for 9 years and not making any money on it - will end up owing $20k on it if they file the judgment. Then I'll get to file for bankruptcy to clean up my credit. I moved to the south last year to avoid the winters in the north and the move has not been easy. I met a guy I thought was a good man but turned out he's a stoner and player and broke it off with him many times, but this was the last. My son graduated from college and I owe tons of money for that, and I need to buy him a car so he can find a job. But I have no income as I'm a real estate broker, self employed for past 17 years and that industry has been hit hard in the past year. It seems I go from bad to worse. I lost a man I truly loved last year - he died from a massive heart attack and I never got to say goodbye. I know all of this is taking its toll on my physical body. I'm trying to let it all go. ANY ADVICE?? |

I live with blown out back and degenerative disc disease, I had a mild stroke awhile back, my wife is next in line to lose her job and we will have no medical insurance let alone house payment money if her job goes. I have just a small income right now. But in recovery I DO have a sponsor. He's been my sponsor for many years. I share with him my trials and tribulations. He listens. I need someone to listen like he does, and not FIX. Only God can do for me what I can't do for myself. But then my sponsor makes the usual request of me. He asks me for a list of 10 things in my life that I'm grateful for today. By the time I'm done with my gratitude list I actually FEEL the gratitude. Each day I have a choice to dwell on the good or the bad. I have both in my life at all times. Being grateful I'm sober is usually first on the list.

I have fibromyalgia as well as a laundry list of other medical problems that also cause chronic pain or contribute to it. Being stessed out will certainly cause a fibro flair. Try to find some type of meditation to help you relax and relieve some of the stress. if you read my thread "5AM and need to Whine" (something like that), I recieved alot of good suggestions and support that may help you as well. Read through some of the other threads here and see if any of them help you. Welcome to SR. Laurie

Hi Sus, You didn't mention in your post whether you have received any help for any mood problems. With all of those issues, I would be amazed if depression or anxiety weren't at least a contributing factor to the way you're feeling now. Perhaps speaking to a doctor about the possibility of some counselling or antidepressant medication? |
