| Discogram
Hello all! I am having a discogram done on Monday as a diagnostic for the back surgery I have scheduled April 16th. Both the neurosurgeon and the anesthesiologist have told me it will be a painful proceedure and that I may require pain meds for a few days afterwards. I have resisted taking pain meds since coming back from a relapse Aug. 15th despite some pretty severe pain (that honestly is wearing me out and causing depression at least a couple of days a week). Thankfully I will be getting sedated during the test. My sponsor is taking me and will be there for support. Does anyone have experience with this? I am having it done on L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1. The surgery is supposed to be on the last two discs (spinal fusion). Thank you in advance for your experience, strength and hope!!! Mary Helen |

I had to put my discogram on hold as I unexpectedly had major hernia surgery back in February. I had a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon after I had an MRI done in December. I'm not particularly looking forward to the pain factor either. I'll be keeping you in my prayers on Monday! :ghug

Hello there Mary Hellen ![]() I don't know anything about back surgery, just want to tell you I'll be praying for you extra on Monday. I'm really glad you've got your sponsor going with you. Be sure to come back and tell us how it went, but not until you're recovered enough Take care of _you_ firstMike

I had to have a discogram prior to my last spinal fusion. I will not lie to you,it was painful. But it was not unbearable. I only used Motrin and I alternated between ice packs and the heating pad. That seemed to help me more than anything. Good luck to you on your back surgery!! It was the best thing that I could have done. I have a three level fusion w/hardware. If I can answer any questions; do not hesitate to ask.
