?

Does anyone know about any ligitimate companies that hire telecommuters (not those multi level marketing or hokey ones, where you can live in a mansion etc...)?
I am finding that there is so much on my plate that this type of work would be perfect for me.

Thanks

I guess that would seem kind of odd Barb. lol

I asked that question here because of pain management. I have been home all summer which has allowed me to exercise, keep the house as clean as I like it. Spend time with my kids, Have a life outside of going to work and coming home exhausted and in pain
I want to work, but if I were at home working my quality of life would be so much better.

I hope the question makes more since now.

Toomutch, the medical transcription would be something to look at. It a self pace course and it can take about a year. My wife is going through it now. She wants to work and be home with the kids as well. If you would like some info I can get it to you.

You can also do transcribing. It is free to learn! I can teach you.. lol...
You just need to find the job.. It's easy, some companies you have to live
in Los Angeles but some of them you can do it all through the computer.

It's not easy, but when you get good at it you can make pretty good money,
and do it in your pajamas.... But you DO have to be pretty perfect to get paid.

You can buy a foot petal or you can download a thing and do it with your fingers.
You become a super fast typer though, lemme tellya!! LOL

Try Craigslist.

Do you know if this program also helps with legal transcriptions? I am looking to buff up my resume right now (working on getting my notary as well) and every little bit helps.

Where is the best place to post their web site in this thread? I'm new here and don't want to break any rules. But I will happy to share the info with any one.

Welcome to SR Harleyman!

I don't think it would be any problem if you posted it here.

Remember, if you make any mistakes here, we don't take you out back and flog you. . . at least not the first time. lol

I don't have 15 post so I not allowed to post a link. Their home page is careerstep.com. I can get some info you need it, Just PM and I get my wife to e-mail you with more details. I know it a self pace course, and she know someone who does it, and loves working from on their own schedule.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier. Finals week here. If it is a commercial link, you are not to post it in the forums. You can PM or email it to anyone that asks though.

I hope that answers your question.

I agree with Harleyman. Transcription is one avenue. Some companies have also outsourced their customer service to at home workers.

Depending on your particular "skill set," other companies (local) may have billing, telephone work, etc that need not be done on site.

Other kinds of company rep work, such as an insurance adjuster, appraiser, etc. require no fixed hours. For instance, a retired friend of mine in Chicago works part time for an insurance company as a type of "appraiser." He may inspect antique cars, buildings, or a private jet. He has no particular experience in this. From what I understand, he basically goes out to see if the thing exists, is in reasonable condition, and all looks "legit." He accepts "cases" on his own terms and weekly schedule. It also allows him to deduct his cell phone, mileage, etc.

You might inquire at Colorado's equivalent of our (Idaho) job service. Most towns here over a few thousand have an office. They have current listings that can also be accessed on the web. You should be able to filter your search by type of employment wanted.

Good luck!

warren

Thanks for all this wonderfull information. I forgot I ever started this thread, oops.

I will look into some of these when life settles down a bit. I don't know what I would do if I had gone back to my full time job at the school this year, although I miss it like crazy.

I would have already missed more days than I have gone due to existing circumstances.

It is nice to know that there are jobs to do from home, that pay fairly well, because I think when the time comes that will work best for me.
