| Anyone here have disk replacement?
My doctor told me that surgery will be the best thing for me today. They have tried different treatments that have not worked to well. To tell you the truth I am pretty scared and wondered if anyone here has been through this. My doctor said pain medication will only work for a short time. And then I would need more and more later on. Scared but I am really tired of the back and leg pain.

Hey there comet No disk replacement in my bod, just wanted to welcome you to this corner of recovery. I had brain surgery last Xmas, and I was plenty scared. Not that it has anything to do with what you're going thru, just letting you know you're not the only one to have that kind of reaction to getting cut up by some guy in a white coat. I have a wonderful support group from my meetings, and those people where there for me every single day. Sharing with them, and following their suggestions, made a _huge_ difference in how I approached the surgery and the medications afterward. Welcome again Mike

| Welcome
No disk surgery here either but wanted to say I could relate. I got diagnosed with MS about 18 months ago and part of that diagnoses included a lumbar pucture, that means they put a needle into my spine and took fluid out of it. I had my sponsor with me and I was hypoventilating (excuse the bad spelling). Welcome to SR. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Thank's you guys Was just wondering because I have heard good, bad and ugly stories. I have had steroid shots in my back. Thought I was going to fly right off that table. Child birth was easer. Doctor asked why we always compair any pain with giving birth. If he only knew.

Dear Comet; I have 3 bad disks. 2 in my neck and 1 in my lower back. I am going to try to get 1 of the disks in my neck fixed because its been bad for over 15 years and getting worse, but I have no experience with the surgery and I'm very nervous too. I'm sure someone will come along soon who has experience and guide us both. Thanks for posting and welcome to SR Recovery and Pain Management forum!!! love Jaz

My girlfriend had a disc replaced in her neck. The stupid doctors wouldn't believe there was something seriously wrong until the disc ruptured and she had to rushed in for surgery. They thought she was just seeking drugs (she's not the addict, I am) and told her she needed to lose weight (she had gained weight because of her increasingly decreasing mobility). She was in constant excruciating pain and was progressively losing feeling in her extremities. Well, she had the surgery and is far better off than before. She still suffers from problems related to nerve damage but it seems to be slowly improving. She had the surgery about 5 years ago.
