Just reading now...I am on lyrica now for about 8 months taking 300mg now, it has helped with my muscle pain but not my spinal or hip pain...on other meds for that and for constant debilitating migraines. I feel though that is has reached a plateau and has stopped working, kind of leary about taking a higher dosage since that is the highest recommended...I do get some blurry vision and did get some drowsiness at first but that has since ceased. Reaching it's plateau has since caused some pain to return. Just an indicator...Lyrica is a controlled substance ( CV ), it's the lowest on the scale but it is a contorlled substance and is very prone to abuse...just check erowid on the net and view people's "experiences" with it...and it is quite addictive...just a little warning... |

| tried it once
I have trigeminal neuralgia and I took lyrica for about a month or a little more. I, by the way have taken every antiseziure med out there and they all have the same efffect on me; drowsyness, dizziness, sleep almost 24/7, cant function! And it did nothing for my chronic pain.

| No good for Joint Pain
I tried it post-opiates for severe joint arthoses due to rheumatoid arthritis, did not work at all for me...BUT, have heard of many success stories for folks with fibro and nerve pain. Joint damage-fuhgeddaboutit! |

Lyrica is habit forming, and can be abused. Additionally, one can overdose on it and end up taking a no expense paid trip to the ER. In other words, if your dose isn't working, dont' keep taking more, stay close with a doc. As others mention, it has anti depressant effects, so may interact with other pysch meds. My understanding of the functionality is if you've had any success with neurontin or gabapentin then Lyrica may well help your pain, being pregabapentin (I think). If you've had bad reactions to the others, or had no success with them, then I can't offer much. |
