| I agree with Barb, perhaps this could become a sticky. I haven't had the opportunity to read completely through this as of yet, but I am planning on it. I've skimmed through it and from what I've read, as soon as I get an new ink cartridge for my printer, I shall print my copy. Thanks again. Most of all, thank you to whoever made the final decision to allow this forum to take place. God Bless, Judy

Thanks for the link. I am studying in the field of addiction recovery and also am in recovery myself. My web search for pain management for alcoholic/addicts led to this forum. I am writing a paper/presentation on this topic for class. It will be very informative for me to browse these threads and read your experiences. Thank for being there and sharing your stories. coxnoars |

I am on pegasys interferon/ribavirin treatment, and am usually in alot of pain, almost like fibromyalgia type pain, but comes and goes is not constant. That is where alcoholism got me was hep C, now I am trying to beat it with treatment, but this treatment is really bad stuff on the body, sometimes I am not sure it is worth it.

Hey there, thanks for the thread, this is exactly what I need to share more about. I've been diagnosed with spinal cord stenosis (pinching) at C5 (neck) and a couple of Lumbar disc's that are torn, bulging to the front, then just to top it off and hereditary neuropathy that I've been told if it were in my mucscle's it would be muscular dystrophy, but it's in my nerves. They don't have any better name for it. What I do for pain management is ice. Not real glamorus or popular, but it works on the spinal cord nerve pain. I recently got a TENS unit that helps and I'm learning how to work with a Cervical tranction unit. Otherwise- Chamommile tea for help with sleeping and I just recently found a liquid mineral suppliment that helps keep the muscle spasms down. Mostly what I do is not let my magical-magnifying mind tell me things are worse than they really are. If I can....get quiet and really check in with what do I feel right now....not worse because I'm in self pity and resentment at having to deal with this in the first place, nor less because I'm tired of it altogether. Just what it is; as it really is. Hope that helps encourage someone else...thanks for listening. |

| Fantastic article on cancer and neuropathy pain
Thank you!!! As someone who had cancer and the pain along with it, then left with peripheral neuropathy and pain from the toxic chemo, I thought this was more informative than any of the conversations I had with my oncologist, neurologist and pain management doctors put together. I can't say thank you enough! |

Hi Linda, I just wanted to comment on the wisdom of your ten or so lines of text, especially in the stuff about self-pity and ignoring what your brain is magnifying and telling you. It took me eight years and $400,000 in surgeries and treatments. One was an artificial L5/S1 disc that cured the biggest problem. My chronic pain was/is real but shortly after the accident, the biggest problem became my brain without me realizing it until years later. Thank you for your comments. Quote:
