((((((Emily)))))) Hang in there. There's nothing so selfish as an addict - I know 'cause I was one. Wise words from Jlo - I went through a similar thing with my ex when I quit drugs and he would still do them in front of me. Doing something good for yourself makes the one still using have to look at their own behaviour and they don't like to do that - hence, the sabotage. I'm still surrounded by smokers, but I'm lucky in that they smoke outside. I hope your hubby will reconsider and start supporting you.

Kevin - you are an inspiration!

Me - 6 months, 20 days, 20 hours, 11 minutes, 40 seconds. That translates into 3072 deathsticks not smoked, for a savings of $1161.98. I've saved 10 days, 16 hours, and 3 minutes of my life.

Hey everyone.
Haven't had much time to come on-line lately, but I try to check in here when I do get on.

6 months, 1 week, 4 days, 23 hours, 4 min.

(I wanted to smoke today, stress. I was stuck in a traffic jam, twice, then was running late for a test I had to take today.) The test had me stressed out as well. At least I passed the test. then another hour on I-95 to get back home. By the time I got home, I really wished I had a cigarette. I made it through.

WOOOHOOOO

You are really making progress. I did quite once for 6 months.... but I can tell you that I was still suffering in the 5th day....

Must be a healthy recovery that is the difference.... Happy people dont have as many of the negative thoughts I guess....

Still watching you all.... Im honestly considering setting a quite date... but the thought of that scares me to death... almost like I would be setting myself up for failure... we will have to see.

Cynay,

I was just talking to my Dad about this. He quit after 50 years of smoking camel non-filters. Just put them down. I also worked as a bartender and drank a lot during my early 20's but when I changed jobs I quit drinking completely without a second thought. My brother, on the other hand, is an active, raging alcoholic and smoker. My Mother is also a recovering alcoholic and smoker. I think I just got lucky in that I don't seem to have the genetics to be easily addicted. I take after my father.

You CAN do it!!

Hey, all....
Today is Ten months, one week, one day, 2 hours, 18 minutes and 16 seconds nicotine free. That's 12483 cigarettes not smoked, saving $3,432.60. Life saved: 6 weeks, 1 day, 8 hours, 15 minutes.

Cynay, it's not easy, but, it's doable. If *I* could do it -- after 36 years of smoking up to 3+ packs a day -- you can. And we're here to help.
When you're ready.
Just don't take to long to get ready.

Ya know something, the anticipation of the quit was as bad as the quit itself, for me! So, in actuality, I made my misery last much longer by dragging it out, waiting for the "perfect" time to quit.
There is no perfect time! LOL!
In fact, I quit while I was out of work on a stress leave!
True!
I had nothing to loose. I was already stressed to the max. Yea, I went a little crazy. But, I learned skills to get past the craziness and get on with life.

So, I hope you'll join us soon. You are worth the love we give to ourself when we quit. And more...

Shalom!

Kudos to all who are checking in, even occassionally.
For me, it still helps hold me accountable. Even after all this time, I reached into my purse looking for a cigarette -- without thinking about it at all -- just a reflex. This happened right before my surgery on the forth.
That nicodemon is still active, and I have to remain proactive.
That last part is MY responsibility. :>)

Today, I'm Ten months, one week, four days, 13 hours, 47 minutes and 59 seconds nicotine free. That's 12622 cigarettes not smoked, saving $3,470.86. Life saved: 6 weeks, 1 day, 19 hours, 50 minutes.

Keep the quit and post before you puff!

Shalom!
