Strange craving.

I can't believe I really wanted a cigarette last night.

I had oral surgery yesterday. They cut a 1 inch long section of my gums, cleaned out the debris in a socket of a tooth I had pulled 2 weeks ago, cut out and biopsied a cyst in my gums, and cut off some sharp edges of my jaw and filed my jaw smooth. I am in more pain than I can ever remember being in. So what do I tell my husband last night?

I was holding my face, almost in tears and I told him I REALLY want a cigarette. Like that would really help. Sh*t, that would have made my mouth feel worse. Talk about an addiction. It just blows my mind.

Yea, Laurie, I completely understand your cravings here.
A few weeks ago, under incredible stress, I went into my coat pocket -- without even thinking -- and reached for my non-existent pack of cigs! I couldn't BELIEVE it!
Those old habits and behaviors die hard, I guess. And I would further guess that that is the reason some people relapse after years of being smoke free.
But, you and others have taught me one important thing that will keep me smoke free...just keep doing the next right thing - choice after choice. :

Keep the quit and post before you puff!
