Today, I wanted a cigarette.
Today, I found out that my friend, Trish, died from an overdose yesterday.
Today, I learned I do not have to smoke, even when times are grieveously difficult, and my emotions are in an upheaval.
And I thank Trish for one more gift.
I love you, Trish; I miss you.
I'll see you on the other side.

It is indeed a difficult way to learn that I can make it through. I'd rather be struggling with it than to learn this lesson. Gut, we don't get to choose our lessons.
