Hey Everyone- Your all doing great!! My quit date was May 19,2005 and last cig was that night before I went to bed. I sometimes am amazed that I have quit and that I don't think about it too much. Just go on my merry way and enjoy life.

I quit on January 16, 2006 and I thank Margo for her Countdown to Quitting post and Historyteach for her daily encouragement. They both have helped me to change from "I am a smoker who is quitting" to "I am not a smoker." I don't post too often but I read on this site everyday to help me maintain smoking sobiety. Thanks, Allenf

Brilliant!!! We should all be proud of ourselves. I've heard that quitting smoking is the hardest addiction to kill. If we can quit smoking, we can quit anything! 22nd of January 2006. Three weeks today and feeling good! |

Y'all are sooo very smoke free!!! It's so clear in here I can see for miles! My quit date was November 6, 1999. Going on seven years....I remember that last smoke. Early Early in the AM, around 5. It was the last in my pack. I was flying from Durango Colo. to Orlando. I had a layover in Denver, then Salt Lake City and I couldn't find the smoking area in either place, as I bought a pack before I left Durango. When I arrived at Orlando International Airport, I threw the unopened pack away...I figured what the hey, it's been hours since I had a smoke so why continue? I started when I was 14. Quit when I was 45. Congratulations to all of us. It sure is a tough addiction to tackle. |

Wolf, I like your story, and the way you just threw that pack away! LOL! You know, the other day, I had some really strong cravings. Now, I haven't been on th patch for well over a week, now. Actually, I forgot to put it on for days, then, wondered why bother, as I was clearly over the physical need for it. But, as I said, I really had some STRONG cravings. And I almost took a piece of the nicorette gum. But, I didn't. I saw no reason to introduce nicotine back into my system after this amount of time. And you know what? The dang craving passed without feeding. They always do... ![]() Shalom!

Teach that is just so awesome. You all are doing so well and getting through this. We have to go THROUGH hell to get to the other side, so keep going...the cravings are there but less and less. I can see it. I was just happy when I didn't have that burning ciggie constantly on my mind. |

My quit date was January 29, 2006. Chose that day because I woke up at 3:00 AM with a terrible smoker's cough. First time I've ever done that. Coughed the cigs right out of my mouth and my life. I was a smoker for 35 years. And I can remember that date because my daughter got married that day. We'll both have something to celebrate year after year. Wish my dear husband would jump on the wagon with me. Somedays it can be a wild ride, but I'm hanging on for dear life. 3 weeks, 3 days, 13 hrs., 13 minutes quit=$147.32 saved=736 cigs not smoked (or paid for with hard earned money), = 2 days, 13 hrs., 20 minutes added to my life........days that I can enjoy my grandchildren and hopefully someday my great grandchildren. |

October 30, 2005. Had surgery scheduled the next day and haven't looked back. The first two months were hard. January, I wondered what all the fuss was about and February has been a breeze. If you're going through Hell, just keep going. |
