My quit date has been made for me, thank you Higher Power

A week ago (before I attempted to quit on my own) I was told about a phone number that was in the Globe and Mail newspaper asking for 7,500 Ontario residence to join in on a no-smoking campaign sponsored by the provincial government.

If you qualify you will be part of an ongoing survey/support system, and given a package with free quit smoking aids including patches, or gum, and literature to read, as well as a 24 hour support hotline to call.

I called an left a message that I was interested, and left my number. Yesterday when I got home from work they had left a message telling me to call a 1-800 number to see if I qualify for this study and quitting campaign.
I called them back and was hooked up with a live survey and I qualified!

They asked me if I had a quit date, and I told them not yet. They said, "well you do now. It's March first and you will be receiving your package in two weeks."
I was so happy and grateful.
So now I do have another quit date, and will have tons of support between them and my SR friends.

Life is good ... Thank you Higher Power!

Obviously I am destined to quit!

Thanks for all your support and encouragement. I will be needing you again soon.

Lots of love
Diana

Diana,
That's wonderful! Yup, no coincidences, huh?
I have had fantastic support from the group counseling; the telephone counseling, and of course, here at SR! And it's really made the difference. Being accountable, yet having people going through the same thing and a counselor with the information necessary for my quit has been my saving grace. And yea, I hear you about the gratitude!
Lonnie, the smoke cessation counselor, said the state wants to end the program come the first of July. So, I made copies of all of the state senators, representatives and the governor. He's giving out those copies to all of the *quitters* and these people are going to get a barrage of phone calls!!! He alone has @ 100 clients and he has access to others that do the same type of counseling. hehehe!
They don't know what pissing off an ex smoker is like,

Anyway, I'm very happy for you, and I'm really glad you let us know your great news! I look forward to seeing you here, sharing your ESH with this program too!

I am now Two months, six days, 7 hours, 18 minutes and 24 seconds smoke free. That's 2692 cigarettes not smoked, saving $740.35. Life saved: 1 week, 2 days, 8 hours, 20 minutes.

Keep the quit and post before you puff!

Shalom!

You can do it!!!

LOL the main reason I'm not smoking is the rest of you aren't smoking!!!

It's the male ego pride thing working

However, pride is a good thing when, it's talking about doing something positive for yourself and for those that love you.

You don't get your birds back until you quit. I'm holding them ransom

I'm really glad to hear that you are going to give it another try, Diana.

I had a few interrupted starts before my quit stuck, but each time I was still determined to stop smoking and took the opportunity between quit times to make a few adjustments to my plan.

The only thing I would probably do differently is continue with some NRT for awhile longer, because the physical withdrawals are not subsiding as quickly as I would like!

All the best to you and I hope that you will use your time until your next quit day to your advantage for a successful quit.

Peace
cj

(and I would really like to see our geese come back!)

LOL Chris you are too funny!!!

Holding my birds ransom... too much.
I am glad though that your male pride is working for you on some level lol.
Pride is a funny thing sometimes, if you don't swallow it, it can choke you.

Have a happy day
Diana

You might think it's funny now but, I don't send your geese home, you'll never have spring.

Canadian winter all year round.
