| One month!!
Today is one month for me!! It's good to be smoke-free. My kids don't smell like old smoke, my car doesn't stink. There's only one disadvantage I've noticed. Now that my house doesn't smell like cigarettes any more, I've noticed that it DOES smell like my stinky old dog!! Oh well. Better than smoke I suppose!!

New behaviors to overcome the old smoking behaviors. I chew gum a lot. That seems to help when I'm starting to stress about something. I also walk around and do deep breathing when I stress. When I'm feeling like I need to do something with my hands, I knit. Or I do Sudoku puzzles, which is also good for my brain. This last week was pretty good. The only time I really had a "moment" was coming home from skiing. I took the boys up to my parents camp for the weekend, and I never did smoke when I was there. But I used to smoke about a half a pack on the way home! So when I got in the car, I actually reached for the glove box before I remembered that I'm not smoking any more. So out came the gum and I chomped all the way home. I think the fact that I'm exercising regularly helps, too. And I've picked up my flute again, so I really need my lungs to be in good working order for that. |

Webbie, You are doing FANTASTIC!!! Look at all the positive things you are doing for yourself, instead of smoking! Flute, deep breathing, exercise, knitting, keeping your hands occupied! I'm really impressed with the actions you've taken up to replace smoking. ![]() Keep it up! Keep the quit and post before you puff! ![]() Shalom!
