Thumbs up Motivational Message

Five of the most important words in the world of tobacco treatment are,

“You can’t have just one.”

The best action you can take to stay smoke-free is to never take
another drag again. But, the fact is “Just-one-itis” happens. “Just one”
cigarette often leads to just one more, two more, and then some.

But, a slip doesn’t have to be a fall. Picking up a cigarette after
your quit date doesn’t mean that you should throw in the towel and be done
with it. What matters is what you think and how you react after a slip. You
can choose to keep smoking. Back to the smelly, costly world of nicotine
dependence. Or you can get back on track.

Call a friend, your health care provider, a Quitline (1-800-879-8678 if
you live in Massachusetts, Rhode Island or New Hampshire), hop on the
trytostop.org Bulletin Board or Quit Wizard, or submit a Quit Question
to the experts at trytostop.org.

Whether you are thinking about quitting, getting set to quit, coming up
on your quit date, in the early days, or have been quit for a while: You
always have the choice to become and remain smoke-free. And we’ll give
you all the support you need to quit and stay that way.

Remember, you can locate more information and assistance on the
www.trytostop.org website:
- The Quit Wizard ... your interactive smoking cessation counselor on
the web.
- A quit smoking group or meeting with a tobacco treatment counselor in
your local area in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.
- Online forums to communicate with other smokers or ex-smokers about
anything related to quitting. Through the Bulletin Board, you'll get
support to quit and stay quit, and you'll be helping other members of
the www.trytostop.org community.

Finally, the Try-To-STOP TOBACCO Resource Center is a toll-free call
away
for Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire residents:
1-800-TRY-TO-STOP (1-800-879-8678)
1-800-8-DEJALO (1-800-833-5256) (Spanish, Portuguese)
TTY 1-800-833-1477 (Deaf, Hearing Impaired)

Good luck to you!
From your friends at trytostop.org

I got this in my email, and thought it good enough to share with you. Many of our members are from RI, MA, and NH.
And the main message is important, IMHO.
A slip doesn't have to mean a fall...it's what we think and do that matters. Learning from it and choosing not to pick up another. That's the key to the winner's circle!

Shalom!
