I finally did it!!!!!!!!

I finally did it!!!!!!!! I made it past my first weekend and got 7 days under my belt!!!! I didn't really think about the cigarettes; I spent so much time exercising After a week I ran a quarter mile with out being winded and after that I slowed down not to catch my breath but to rest my legs.
I have been smoking for 20 years. I relly hope this is it.

That's FANTASTIC~!!!!
You've done the single best thing to keep your resolve against quitting. That's exercising. The smoke cessation counselor said that any positive addiction we replace the negative one with is good. But, one that would be harmed if we return to smoking is the best. I started going to the gym. It's been great! I'm in FL on vacation now, and I'm walking daily and swimming every day! I want to keep this positive addiction up!
Please do join us on the daily morning check in. It helps keep us accountable.
Also, post before you puff!!!
Good job; keep it up!

Shalom!

You know, I didn't even attempt anything until I had several years in. I'd quit and pick up a cig. after not smoking for a couple of years. My Mother has COPD. When, I have to take her anywhere, we always have to take a bottle of oxygen.

Why would I even think of pickin up a smoke is beyond me!!

I got a buddy in AA that always said I won't pick up if, you don't. I'm not going to smoke if, you don't. How's that!!!!!

keep that running up. It's cold where I live, I'm not even walking now !!!

Keep busy, busy, busy!

It keeps you from thinking about *******, plus you get lots of things done too as a side benefit.

it is not hard to keep busy. I can't believe I have gone 10 days now. Esspecially with all these people at work saying I need this now I have 4 projects that are needed now. And no body to pawn them off on. This so far is my toughest day I am SOOOOOOO stressed.
Already though when I run my legs get tired before my lungs do.

That's fabulous, hotwingeatter!!!

What strategies do you have for yourself to deal with stress other than running?
Running is great, and it does help stress build up. But, we can't always go off running when we get stressed, ya know?
Deep breathing; meditation; prayer; taking care of ourselves spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally each day....
What works for you?

You are doing great, and we're all rooting for you. You CAN beat this nicodemon!

I am now one month and two weeks smoke free.

Shalom!

hotwingeatter;
You made me laugh right out loud with that dismemberment,
My mom thinks I'm crazy, lol! Well, what else is new, lol!

Deep breathing really helps me. Stuffing that type of anger might make me EXPLODE!!!

Keep up the good work!

Shalom!

I love being a quitter!!! First I quit high school, got my GED, Then I quit college Got a great job. after than I quit smoking, drinking and drugging several times. Today I finally look in the mirror and see a non- drink or drugie who is taking the next step and not smoking. I am going to run a mile tonight just for the hell of it.
If there was ever any thing I was good at in life it was quitting, why change now.
