Red face New day...

Hi everyone..

Well, unfortunately, my quit day came and went.. But, I am cutting back for now. Which I have to do, to use the 14mg patch anyway..

My stop date is 1/2/06.. That will be my day.. I WILL NOT pass that dday..

I am no longer afraid of quitting, at least I have that much now. I am though afraid of continuing on.. I woke up this morning to a definate weeze in my lungs. I cried last night, because I was so afraid, because I could not breathe, and I am to afraid to go to the doctor.. So, quitting is not something I am afraid of anymore. I know that it is somthing that I shoudl have done long ago..

My doctor told me on the phone, ( my medication doctor, for my addiction)
that I have to start at 14mg patch no higher,, that scares me a bit, because I tried that before, and that was tough.. At 21, I was fine, but, I will make it.. I am just cutting back now. I am writing down every cig until then, so I know exactly when I have one, to be certain I am not having many.

I can, and will do this..

This is not a New years resolution. Nope, don't do them.. But, I will stop..

Thanks all of you.

For listening..

Love,
Becky

(((Becky)))
You can do this.... One day at a time.
And we are right here with you.

I'm glad you're not making it a resolution. My smoke counselor says they just are no good. He said it's actually better to wait till the 2nd or do it before the 1st. We have habbituated ourselves to making -- and breaking -- resolutions.

What's your plan for tough times when urges hit? What will you do while driving, for example? On the phone? After dinner? First thing in the morning? WIth your coffee.... You get it.

If you're worried about the 14 not being enough, take the gum too. I am. I have the 21 patch and chew 2-4 pieces a day, normally just when I get into the car. There, I have a very strong craving still. It gives you that little extra burst to help you through. Talk to your doctor about it first, but, many of us in our group are doing both successfully.

We're here for you. Just say when. And remember to post befor you puff.

Shalom!

Hey Teach,,

I can't do anything else,, because of the meds I am on. That is why he said only the 14mg.. I can't do the gum..

But I hae bought 4 bags of suckers. I guess that is what my whole plan is based on,, that and cleaning every single inch of my house. LOL.. It needs it..

I am going to the doctor next week. My husband has taken vacation, to go with me. I don't expect to get good news, and I am really scared.. So, I think that will be a big motivation. My health is pretty bad.. I am way to young to die from Lung cancer, so ,, that is a big motivator as well.. I will be talking alot as well. I just don't knwo what else I will do,, I guess I will be brushing my teeth. But I never thought about the car,, other than suckers?? What do you do?

I will be praying,, ALOT...

I bought my son a stress ball for Christmas, looks like I will be working that thing, LOL..
Love,
Becky

A stress ball is a good thing to use!

In the car, I have some gum. That's about the only place I use it; the only place I need it. But, you should try driving to and from places by a different route. That way, you're more connected to the aspects of driving and less apt to reach for a butt. Also, I had my car detailed. It smells so good!! So, clean out the car and put in one of those smelling things.

Smoke counselor said to change little aspects of everything. Rearange the furniture, for example. Sit in a different chair than usual. Drink tea instead of coffee. Hold the phone in a different hand. All these things are triggers for us, and changing little things about them help us to break the association with cigarettes.

The Serenity Prayer gets me through alot, too.

Shalom!
