Thumbs down urges strong...

OK, I'm having some strong urges for a cig today.
It's my second day.
It's rainy out; dark and dismal. I'm stuck inside. Can't go out for a good long walk, like I did yesterday. That helped me yesterday, and I used to do that when I quit a few years ago for 3 1/2 months.
Doing some deep breathing, relaxation. And I was out today, and didn't buy any. When I came home, I got dressed in "home" clothes. So, I'd have to really get dressed again to go out.
So, I'm getting past the urges one at a time. But, they are strong.

What have some of you done to get you through?
Thanks!

Shalom!

I know this sounds simple and has been said many times by myself and others. However it helped both of us to quit our bad habits, and that is to get and stay busy.

Clean something, maybe everything, or maybe cook something that needs lots of attention. You have to break your normal routine.

My wife started knitting, that may help, or maybe sewing. My hobby is boat building, building and refinishing furniture, and working on our Hot Rods. Any type of a hobby that requires all of your attention and passes the time.

Even rearranging your furniture could help.

Please don’t give in. We need the all the teachers of our children to be, and to stay healthy.

Most importantly you need to be healthy! Do this for yourself, and everyone around you will benefit too.

Thanks, Plano;
Actually, I've got some cleaning I can do.
There's ALWAYS more of that, isn't there? LOL!

Keep busy; Change routine.
Well, I can keep busy. I don't really have a routine right now, though. I'm out of work for a while. And I have to remember to do good things for me. I think one of the suggestions someone gave me before is scrapbooking. I think that would be fun. So, tomorrow, I'm off to the store to get some supplies.

Thanks again for your support!

Shalom!

Teach hang in there, you can do this!!!

I find that when I am having a bad craving it helps to put LOTS of gum in my mouth, I chew about 4 pieces!!! I can't chew it for long but it works!!

I am having some strong urges today too and what really sucks is that there are smokes available in the next room!!

The craving will pass either way!

Unspun;
Twix, huh? LOL! That's a new one.

I went and scrubbed some pots and pans. Did some laundry; still have to fold and put away. So, I'm doing ok, right now. It's just weird how strong they can be. But, I do know they pass.

Roxy;
I'm afraid gum is not something I can really do. I HATE chewing gum. Weird, huh?
Oh, and I'm so sorry that they are so close to you...I'm glad I'm safe at home, and no one is around who smokes!
Once, when I quit for a while, my ex lit up right in front of me, in the car. Not like I could get up and walk out, ya know. Well, it was probably day 2 or 3; very early in my quit. I burst out crying! LOL!
I felt like there was no support at all for my endeavor. I felt betrayed.
Looking back, that was the least of what he was doing to me....

Thanks for the support, everyone. Doing a bit better now. Just keep busy...

Shalom!

3 days Teach with welbutran and a patch. And for me it is just not an option. I have quit before successfully (3 years) and I have quit unsuccessfully and the difference has been wanting it badly enough. Sound familiar? LOL!!

You're on day three??? (or four now?)
AWESOME!!! Keep it up! I hope I'll see you here often as we both go through this.
Can you tell me what caused you to take it back up again, after three years?

Wanting it badly enought, huh? Where have I heard that before!

Well, it's the beginnng of day three for me right now...I'm doing the patch and welbutrin now too! It's one day at a time, I'm taking it!

Oh, and one thing I'm noticing is that I'm making a LOT of mistakes typing. It's like my hands don't know which keys to press anymore!
Anyone else have any weird reactions to the lack of nicotine like this?

Shalom!

I had those problems. I think in my case it was being tense from not smoking cigarettes. Nicotine is a drug like any other, there are withdrawal symptoms, be they mental or physical, they are what they are.

Plus there is always spell check (smile).

Right, Spell check!
Good observation on the tension, though. Hadn't thought of that. Course, I'm not thinking too much lately. LOL!

Shalom!
