| Repost with an update, what worked for us.
My wife and I quit cigarettes in March using the patch. They seemed to take the edge off for us. For me I had to have something to reach for instead of a cigarette. I used sweet tarts, but anything would help. Chocolate, hard candy, peanuts in the shell maybe. I carried them in my cigarette pocket. After meal time was the most difficult time for the cravings. Have that alternative handy. We also had to take the patch off a night, just before going to sleep, as the dreams seemed to be pretty intense while using the patch. It worked for us. Update: Its going on 7 months since we quit. Having something to reach for instead of a cigarette can help. We found that reaching for that cigarette was automatic. After eating, going for a drive in the car, sitting down at the computer, before bedtime. These were all times that we would reach for that cigarette without any thought involved. Please try having something else in that place where you keep your cigarettes. Take that $25.00 - $50.00 dollars or more that you have been spending on cigarettes per week and buy something nice for yourself. I took the extra money and bought something for my wife every week. Then I reaped the benefits so to speak (grin). Wishing everyone the strength and determination you need to quit.
