I never tried the gum. I did try the patch. My reasoning was that with the gum it would be too easy to have a stick of gum... have a cig... have a stick of gum... have a cig... With the patch if you smoke you get sick as a dog. Believe me. And it's not like you can just pull the patch off and light up. Believe me. Nicotine poisoning is not pretty. Deterred me. For awhile. But they cost too much for me. Eventually I just quit cold turkey. That was almost two years ago. I think I would have stuck with the patch if I could have afforded to.

I tried patches several times. The first time they did work, but I 'regained control' and started smoking again. Since then, I can use the first step patches, but the second step patches make me swell, turn red, itch and burn.....I must be allergic now. This time I quit cold turkey. Easiest way I ever tried. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks. I keep food, candy in my mouth, but at least I'm not inhaling chemicals. |
