quit tip

Don't Buy The Lie

Even when it's been weeks or months since you stopped smoking, it's useful to take some time to prepare before you go into situations that might be challenging, especially if alcohol and cigarettes are going to be readily available. Be clear in your mind why you value being a nonsmoker. Be alert to the fact that you may hear your old smoker self saying, "Just one won't hurt," or "I've been quit so long now, I just want to see what it's like." Smoking a single cigarette is a huge risk. Is having a cigarette important enough to you to take that chance?

This one is really important. It was the inner lie that I believed. I am still smoking after having "just one."
Somehow, I think it's easier to stay quit, than to quit again.
Shalom!

Actually it's all about attitude and making up your mind.
Believing that NO MATTER WHAT>>>YOU WON'T SMOKE!!
When you do this, there will be absolutely NOTHING THAT WILL STOP YOU.
Someone would have to hold a gun to my head to get me to smoke now.

As with any addiction, one is NEVER ENOUGH..........NEVER!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck to you....

Here's a thought:

A person that has never smoked a cigarette in his or her life is considered a non-smoker. "That" non-smoker doesn't have to fight the temptation to smoke a cigarette just because he or she is around someone else that is smoking.

Let's get one thing clear in our minds...once we've quit, we become NON-SMOKERS too! Non-smokers don't think about smoking. Nor do they need a cigarette to get through the good or bad days.

Bookie12 (37 days and 22 hours smoke free...Cold Turkey).

Mother's Day I was around several smokers for the first time since quitting. Just smelling it makes me remember one reason I quit! YUCK!!

Unhappy Ah Well...

I quit for 16 days.. on Mothers Day I was pissed off..I bought a pack. Stopped again for 2 days..then was given 12 free packs.

Alas..I did not say no to temptation.

I am going to stop again when the freebies are gone.

Our state just passed a very strict non smoking ban due to be put into law July 1. This will stop smoking in our AA meetings...my biggest trigger.

Another try coming soon..early next week!

CarolD...what are you doing? I agree with PlanoTexican. After the freebies are gone, you'll probably just go out and start buying them again. Stop trying to stop smoking...just don't smoke anymore.

Best wishes!

Alas,
Reasoning doesn't work with addictions...If it did, there would be no addicts...to whatever substance...
The 3 Cs say it all.

I quit 10 years ago, after smoking 2 packs/day for 15 years...

I'd tried 3 times before but didn't want it bad enough...

I realize now that the part of you that wants to quit must be stronger than the part that wants to smoke, if it is, you can quit... I quit cold turkey, no patches or gum, and I never took another puff.... I still have very small cravings, especialy after eating, even after 10 years, but it's hardly noticable at all anymore, I truely am a non smoker... You guys all can be too....
