| Horrible, terrible day 1
I quit drinking in January with no trouble. I never even think about it now. I was coming here to help me with that, and I noticed this smoking forum. I spent some time reading. I've quit many times and always said it was pretty easy because the craves go away quickly. Last night I decided to not buy another pack of smokes. I decided I'd quit this time for good. I didn't want to give myself time to talk me out of it. I'm not craving it, but I am constantly wanting to reach over and fire up. My insides are shakey. I feel like I could have a nervous breakdown at any time and I've been in therapy since October for anxiety...... I know it will pass. I also have a sinus infection which has me feeling bad. Oh, and I could have smoked. My husband put his smokes on my desk where I usually have mine. He didn't know I had quit. Thanks for listening. Just had to get it off my chest. |

AND you are doing it TN..... It isn't easy, but then neither is lung cancer, emphysema or heart disease. I think if we could all think that we are really really fighting for OUR LIVES here, it might give us a different perspective. I find since I quit, the jitters I used to have, have disappeared. I never dreamed that would be a benefit, but I'll take it... Hang in there, you can do this ....it is soooooooo worth it.... (((((((((((TN)))))))))))))))))

Yep, had my last drink on December 9th, 2004. Wow...I've never cried so much. (Depression). Anyway, had my last smoke on 7 April 2005. And after about 15 years of doing both heavily, life is so wonderful now. Now it's time to help someone else see the light. Bookie12 (30 days and 19 hours smoke free; COLD TURKEY)! |

Quitting cold turkey has been much easier than all the other methods I've used over the years. Today is day 12. I no longer miss it. I do have moments when I'd like to inhale a smoke, but it passes quickly. I spent the day with smokers yesterday which was a huge reminder as to why I quit!

YEP... I think I finally *get it* That is, to recognize smoking for what it is and isn't... IT doesn't make anything better..... It only takes away...our health and our money. I often, wonder now, how the CEO of Phillip Morris sleeps at night... it is a slow suicide and the government endorses it. 54 Days>>NOT ONE PUFF EVER

Agree! After reading "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr, I actually look at people smoking a cigarette and ask: Why in hell is he or she doing that? And just imagine...I smoked 35 to 40 cigarettes a day! Bookie12 |

Morning Quitters Hang in there !! I quit the smokes cold turkey, back in November, on advice of a friend of mine who did. He said it would be horrible for 4 or 5 days (it was) but after that it would be ok (it is !!) I use the one day at a time approach too - I'm an addict - alcohol/nicotine or whatever - if I want to stay stopped I need to stay spiritually fit and work a daily program. If I do - I will beat it, one day at a time. Stay strong people - have a great 24 !! much love JC

Today was day 13 and I had a couple of hours where I wanted to murder again, very intense, much like the first couple of days. I made it through because I knew it would pass. I know I will regret if I ever light up again. How long will I have these 'bad moods'? Forever?? |
