I am on day 3. I keep having surreal moments.. am I really doing this?? I have been on and off the patch.. (damn thing keeps falling off) and chewing the nic gum. I think I am taking the all wrong approach. Anyone think that cold turkey is better. I am going to do this with or without the patch or gum... I am still feeling withdrawal.. today more than any of the last 2 days. (weekend? not busy at work? not sure) I was glad to find this posting site... Its not just meeeeeeee. |

Teri, I am proud of you! Do you know that if you get through the third day, you get through (what I have read anyway) the hardest day? Go to bed early so you won't have to deal with any nicodemons.

Teri - hang in there. No one needs to smoke cigarettes. And that is why people who "don't" smoke, "don't smoke". You are now one of those people. Withdrawals will go away. But as they continue to hit you, trying to knock you down, just tell them to go away. They really don't last more than a couple of minutes. Oh, I also walk 3 miles a day at 3.5 mph, 2 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon on my treadmill. I am much more concerned about gaining weight than my mind wanting to smoke a cigarette. Teri - one other thing...just as long as you're using the gum and/or patch, you're still going to be addicted to nicotine. Although you haven't smoked a cigarette in 3 days, you still have to face the withdrawals from nicotine. Please throw away the patches and gum. You are now a non-smoker and don't need the stuff. Day 3 was rough.. and its over.. This morning I went for a 3 mile walk.. I am quitting at an incredibly stressful time right now, between the office and at home.. I figure if I can do it now.. I can do it at anytime. I am more than willing to throw away the patch. I don't recommend it to anyone. does the damn thing do anything? (nope- not to me) Thanks for all the replies! So far, my day 4 Sunday is going well..Did anyone else go through crazy moods.. like one minute you are out of your mind, cracking jokes..lots of energy, (silly mood) the next minute you wanna f-ing be as far away from your family members.. they drive you crazy... heart rate increased? and the cycle begins again. Water Trident Water Water Trident Water Trident. bookie- 16 days cold turkey!! (I am bowing with utmost respect) |

What is funny is that I truly do find more things more funny, than before, and conversely, I have less patience with some of the things I was moderately impatient with, in the past.. My b/f who has never smoked, planted some *Impatiens* flowers....in my honor. It does get better as far as the withdrawals...every day seems better than the one before and I find I am a calmer person, as well as being *in the moment* like never before. Of course that makes sense to me, because while smoking one is always planning for the next fix.... Hang in there..YOU can do this...and It is soooooooo worth it. Tomorrow will be day 40 and I try not to look back....I never want to go through day one again...

We never have to.........as long as we remember the law of addiction... I think I can, how about you? You are doing great Teri, and you are soooooo worth it.. I talk to people who have long quits, and it's like they never smoked.... I am looking forward to that comfort, and KNOW that I will achieve it, as long as I choose to NEVER take ANOTHER PUFF..not one..not now.....not Ever..
