The Steps and nicotine addiction

My NA sponsor told me many times that working the first three steps of Narcotics Anonymous can be very helpful when quitting smoking. Below are links to the first three from the Narcotics Anonymous Step Working Guide:

Working the whole set of steps is ideally done with a sponsor, and if you are already in AA, NA, CoDA, Nar-Anon, Al-Anon, etc, you can talk this over with your sponsor. No matter which 12-step program you are in, the steps can be adapted to work through a variety of addictive and other behaviours that are impacting your life in a negative way.

Nicotine Anonymous also offers meetings, which have been adapted from the AA model and are 12-step based. Unfortunately, the meetings are far and few between, but here is the link to the Nicotine Anonymous World Services website. There is a meeting locator, as well as the basics about the program, and even how to start your own group!
