One day

I have ONE DAY! not smoking a cigarette, I put on a patch later on
in the evening. Yesterday I was stressed over a relationship that
resulted in me not concentrating losing my house keys. I began to
cry. I notice when I smoke it nums my feeling, I can't feel a thing.
God please help me to let go of of the cigarettes and the
realtionship that is not healthy for me. I'm scared,
I don't want to smoke.I know when I get stressed. I light up.
I haven't been buying cig lately. I've been bumming cig from friends.
Any suggestions? I have 1 day

nicotine doesn't really numb your emotions, all that happens when you smoke is that your brain is getting relief from wanting nicotine.

You're letting your mind take a rest from the anger or hurt, and if you can do that smoking a cig you can do it with something else. I ran up and down the stairs when things got bad. I ate fruit like a maniac. Just SOMETHING!

you've got a patch! They work! Your body is already getting the nicotine, you can do this.

Actually, I think you're rather wonderful for getting to a whole day.
I hope you do too.

Hugs
Jane

Well done indeed! I envy you. I can't even seem to go half a day!

I need more determination.

Hey I have 4 days under my belt not smoking cigarettes
Yesterday was kinda rough, I was very tired and emotional.
I had taken the patch off at work. Today I don't have
a patch on, I don't have the urge to smoke as of now

4 days is great. Really great. I used the patch and it really helped. I used it steadily though as instructed. the beginning was tough but as time goes by it got easier and easier. Its so great being a non smoker, like 2 1/2 years now.
Hang in. pat yourself on the back, fantastic work.

I have 5 days now. I have the patch on today. Boy I'm so
emotional been crying off and on all day. Has anyone
experienced being emotional? One thing it does feel good
not smoking. I feel real drain I guess because of the
other emotional stuff I'm going through. I'm going to
hang tough.

Hey everyone I have 1 week, 7 days to be exact. Today I had a strong desire to smoke but thank God I didn't. I began to question why was the urge there. I put the patch on the urge dissapeared. I just want to beat this, one day at a time.

GREAT work.

Something my wife did *pout* After going 3 weeks, she thought she would reward herself. Well picking up is not a reward as she has found.
That first one is the one that gets you. Not picking up the first one seems to be the only way.

I have 11 days smoke free. I will not reward myself by lighting up.
I will reward myself one day at a time by not lighting up. :lumpy
It's been hard, but it's worth it.

Well done. I read your thread and was reminded of the stress I put myself through prior to stopping. I needed to be reminded that I don't want all that again. Thanks.

Hey everyone thank you for being so supportive. I know for me smoking had to have numbed my feeling it interfered with my taste and smell. I believe it did something to my emotion this why I say I was numb. Everyday this week I've cried something I wasn't able to do in a long time, which is a good thing for me. I need to feel somethings. This make me more eager about staying smoke free, I can feel, smell, taste again it feels good to be able to cry again.
