Quit Tip

A Little Exercise is Better Than None

Exercise can be very helpful when you are trying to quit smoking. Smokers often do not have the desire to exercise and people who exercise regularly usually do not have the desire to smoke. When people quit, adding a moderate amount of exercise can help to burn calories and increase metabolism- helping to avoid or minimize weight gain. Also, exercise can help reduce stress, which is important when you are trying to quit. If you are considering starting a new exercise program, talk to your doctor first. Normally, it helps to set modest goals at first and increase your activity gradually.

Hope this helps!
Shalom!

thanks for the pointer, historyteach, and it's so true, too. i never could run while i smoked heavily-- i couldn't breathe!! here with the weather so cold it's easy to be lazy, and with the holidays-- my waistline's going to pay. but when the weather warms up i'll try running a mile three days a week....i used to be a runner in high school ... it's amazing i used to actually LIKE strenuous exercise! haha

best wishes

Yea, I hear ya about the cold and the strenous exercise. I used to ride my bike around the Ocean Drive, (10 miles) on a daily basis. I used to run.
I'm so bad now, I let my fingers do the walking!!! :Lmao
Take it a little at a time. We can do this!
Shalom!
