24 Hour No Nicotine/No Smoking Club - Part 12
Just some encouragement for those of you that are trying? I used to smoke 40 per day for over a decade. Today is my 15th year anniversary of giving up.
Don't listen to those that say "I've been given up 30 years and I still want a cigarette" - because if you're like I used to be you'll be wondering what's the point if that's true? I haven't thought about a smoke for over a decade - in fact I can only remember thinking it would be nice to have a cigarette ONCE after the first six months.
Keep trying as it's so worth it.
Tony

If asked I'd have to say sometimes I want one. It's not really a craving though and it only lasts for a few seconds before I forget about it. Even if people do still want one after getting lose it's not like it was in the early days.
Almost 5 months here. another 24.

I can't get an answer. How long will my lungs hurt?
I quit 2 months ago after 34 years. My lungs have hurt ever since. Actually they hurt before I quit. How long are they going to hurt? 2 packs a day for the last 10 years. I'm beginning to think I might have some bad.
Yea us! 6.5 months here. When I think about smoking (not often) I am just glad I broke free. The first 3 months was pretty horrible but I did smoke for almost 30 years and was up to 2 packs a day. If 3 months was what it took that is still a bargain. Someone at work commented how much better my color was now that I didn't smoke. I have been taking a supplement for awhile now that is supposed to be good for hair and skin so maybe that's part of the reason too. My hair is no longer thinning. It makes me wonder how much changes I have undergone on the insides.
I'm on to the next thing which is diet and exercise. I used the Alan Carr method and didn't put on any more weight but I needed to lose some already. The smoking was the priority so now I'm minus a nicotine addiction and down 10 lbs from 6 months ago.

It will be 8 weeks "quit" tomorrow. Wow.
I'd like to think I'll be on to diet & exercise next, but it is hard to get there. I read the healthy living and diet & exercise threads here but I haven't actually started working on it.
Anyway - keep up the good work everyone.

We'll be running 5ks in no time
I've looked at this area of the forums and gritted my teeth. I realized my day was coming eventually. It finally arrived, yesterday morning after hacking and coughing due to a bad cold and STILL trying to smoke.
I've been here before, I'm using the ecig again. The last time I attempted I made it down to 4 cigs a day. This time it will be no cigs a day. Better to just tear the band aid off.
In for another 24 hours.
