I haven't smoked in plus or minus two weeks, but I did smoke on a couple of occasions back then (and just stopped posting rather than come on here and fess up!).
But, as I said, it has been a couple of weeks, and I intend to stay quit.

Yesterday someone asked me for lighter to start a grill. Without thinking I reached in my pocket and then I had the best feeling...when I said.. "I don't have one". Several people looked at me with disbelief (I was always the one who ended up with everybody's lighter).. I said "what? I don't smoke."
I've been waiting 40 yrs to do THAT and it felt great. 8-15-15 was one year smokefree for me. I had made 3 previous attempts at it, but this time...I had hit bottom and this time I had made a plan.
I humbly asked the HP for help
made a list of things I could do for 15 minutes that would keep min hands and mind busy, but that I could do frazzled. (Like paint my nails, scrap book, sew buttons, DIY projects like sanding and painting a chair..)
Drank Water, Water and more Water (detox the toxins)
Sucked on cinnamon sticks when a craving did hit.
Made Step 11 a priority and a part of my AM coffee Routine.
I had about 3 rough days I whiteknuckled through, then had to break a couple of trigger place/type habits like not smoking after sex, or while on the phone and I almost forgot...my 1 yr anniversary--but some friends..remembered and we celebrated. Life IS good and you CAN make it ODAT. Keep going guys!

I got just over a year free now. The crucial thing to break out of the cycle of addiction was to tell everyone around me that I wanted to it and I wanted their help.
You wouldn't believe how that changed things! In my country, the percentage of people who smoke is 18 percent so the vast majority of people don't smoke and are only too pleased to give a hand to someone who wants to give up.

Would you believe I went looking for that pack tonight during a bad craving? Thankfully I took it out to the dumpster already!
I'll be going to bed soon, I'm really craving hard and I've had enough today, but glad I made it thru smoke free!!

Good morning, this thread is kinda quiet. But not me I'm here for another 24. Glad I didn't break last night and I'm feeling good this morning about having 2 days smoke-free behind me. Physical cravings have to be at their peak or on the downslide by now I hope. Now it's just the mental habits / cravings I have to get through....

Like alcohol, I still had to do the work - but in a short time I simply was no longer craving nor addicted. Prayer works!@
Almost at 6 months......rarely even think about a cigarette. Drinking of course was a huge playmate when I smoked and vice versa!
Keep trying if you haven't quite got there yet!!
It's going well buk. Day 7 today. Was craving a decent amount yesterday, kind of antsy pacing around the house, but I got through it. Got some exercise this weekend which helps overall. Feeling strong again now!
How's everyone else going?
24 for me please!
