| One More Time!!!
i all, I am just going to do this until I get it right! Okay, I quit this a.m. after I smoked the last of my 3 cigarettes, and popped on a patch, and here I go....AGAIN! I just know I'm going to get it right. I think this must be the 4th time I've tried. What in the blazes is wrong with me? I know how disgusting, dirty, stinky this addiction is, but the craving doesn't ever stop even after 6 months......GRRR This time I will make a constant effort, and will do it ONE DAY, OR HOUR at a time! I am just going to make up my mind and be a unsmoker this time!!!

You can do it! You're stronger than those cigarettes are! Just spoil yourself silly and don't worry about anything other than not smoking. Feel the urge to light one then eat, walk, clean, eat eat or eat! Give yourself permission to go overboard on anything you want to for the first 3 days of no smoking. On day 12 here myself and I'm still somewhat spoiling myself. Hang in there! |

Hi, I have not smoked for 1 month and 2 days! Still feel like it at times, but the cravings get less and less. I really believe it is a mind set, just remind yourself everyday that you will not smoke ever again. |

I am sneaking on waaaaayyyy down at the bottom here, LOL, to confess that I too have let the petals fall off the rose <--- Yes I did!!I have no excuses, well actually I have 135 excuses but none of them valid, and am already gearing up for another round. This is how sick this is....I LIKED not smoking. I liked it so much that I am determined to hop back on the wagon. So Moose, you and I have some work to do...well I do, you're already back on the wagon. Don't pull away, I'll be right behind you. I really have to think about what mindset allowed me to be this destructive. <---Me and Me, LOL

Good luck you too....though there's nothing about luck with quitting anything, it's all courage and strength of character. I think we need to make up "Quitting Smoking" coupon books. Page 1 would be: 1 free pan to throw across the kitchen when you're in deep withdrawls feeling completely mental. Page 2 would be: 1 non complaining husband/spouse/partner/friend fixing wall from page 1 coupon with no sighing, muttering or making soon to be ex smoker feel bad. Nene |

Yayayayay Mooselips!! Good for you! As a recovering addict to nicotine, I applaud your efforts! Keep it up...you have my support and motivation--it will be five years for me on November the 6th. Yes I know the date and the last ciggie I smoked, and where I was...Durango Colorado at 530 am on my way to the airport... Great job and keep it up! Go Girl!!!!!

I woke up with a killer headache (I think I smoked too much over the past 24hrs) -- took an excederin and now I'm WIDE AWAKE  I was lying (laying?) in bed and all I could think about was quitting smoking... so, what'd I do? I got up, lit up a cigarette and came down here to read the forum! How dumb is THAT?? LOL I've been smoking for 30 years I've never quit for more than a few hours (really). I've never made it an entire day. I smoke a pack to a pack and a half a day. But I can go HOURS without smoking and not even really think about it (flying, working etc). It seems that when I'm in a situation when I can't smoke, it's easy to let it go. So... on that note, I think I may go to the pharmacy in the AM and get the patch - I think I'm ready to REALLY try. Knowing that I CAN'T smoke while wearing the patch might be just the incentive I need to not give in to the temptation. OK, now that I have that out of my system, maybe I can get some sleep!! Niters!

Hi Cadence, This is my fourth try! I'm going on the assumption of practice makes perfect! Yep, I'm using the patch. I have no withdrawl symptoms at all while using the patch, just the undoing of a habit. Like, after I eat, I usually smoke, so that's when I usually think of it, or getting up and drinking my tea, then I want one. But, really I feel pretty good about it this time. Just have to keep chanting...I DO NOT SMOKE I DO NOT SMOKE... I have smoked for 35 yrs. You can do it, jump on my no smoking bus.... hugs, and sweet breath.......

Keep chanting that while nibbling on carrots? Great job Mooselips! Day 21 here for me. So when are we officially "non" smokers? Or will we always just be ex smokers still quitting? I went to this homeless feed event this weekend at the park and some of the servers are a group of guys going through rehab. My quitting smoking felt pale in compairison to their addictions but they were all so sweet about trying to not smoke around me and teasing me to keep my spirits up. |

cblue, Great job on your quit!! Have you been to the Freedom From Smoking boards at the American Lung Association? This is where I learned to quit. I also go to woofmang.com for extra support. I never want to smoke again! I cannot believe how good I feel. I smoked 30 + years. I am healing so quickly & it has been less than 6 months. I took your advise. I am looking around. Thank You, Brighty |

Hi All, Just checking in. Still not smoking, I think it's 55 days today. Now I'm down to the lowest patch, the 7mg. Feeling pretty darn good. I WAS worried about weight gain, but have taken up walking. I put on a headset radio, and walk, walk, and walk... So, far, haven't lost any weight, but haven't gained any either! Hugs, and sweet breath .........
