No smoking for me today.

Gosh, it's so freeing to be able to say that.

Today marks 1 year and 9 months cigarette free for me.

I'll take another 24 hours smokefree to celebrate!

Hi Folks,
I have just over 18 months sober, but still smoke. I run 40 miles a week, and training for my second Half Marathon. But, I can't quit. I've tried Chantix, and cold turkey. I need help and advice. Smoking is a waste of money, and terrible for my health. Maybe if I'm accountable to this group it will help. I'm 36 and need to quit.

We are not like normal people. It takes a bottom or consequence to get our attention.

When I was 40, I got pneumonia 4 times in one year, and that got my attention. I quit the cigarettes, switched to cigars and stopped enhaling. Our craving makes us switch to something. Sugar is my current nemesis.

I quit the cigars at age 65 and I am now one month shy of 83.

The cancer sticks would have killed long ago if I had not got pneumonia.

You may be unique, but I hope not cause unique is terminal.

Hi Matt. Good to see you here. I found that cold-turkey was the best way for me to quit. The first few days/weeks can be a bit rough, but the knowledge that it wouldn't last and all the nicotine would soon be out of my system really helped. Support and taking it one day at a time helped me too. Early on, having some gum or hard candy around can be helpful to distract oneself and satisfy that oral craving.

24 more for me.

No smoking for me today. I like knowing that I quit and I don't have to go back if I just don't smoke, one day at a time.

The days turn into weeks, the weeks into months, as we improve both physically and mentally.
