| My Story, 10 years, 3rd time Quitting
Hello everyone. I haven't smoked since this morning. Today is my 10th day on zyban. I was planning to wait until the 14th BUT I am so sick, in the middle of summer, I think it is a sign from god to stop now. My throat is raspy and I've had sinus congestion for 2 days, I left work early today because I felt so s**tty. I have washed the ashtray well and have candy in there now. I am drinking tea with honey and have candy on hand. I wonder if I will be better in 5 days time.... Is someone out there a few days quit? History of my smoking I started smoking when I was 14...smoked all the way until I 1998 (age 20 when I started feeling bad about it. I quit for a couple months with the patch but had dreams and always thought about smoking. I started again. I now realize that is how it must be for an alcoholic who quits for others and not themselves. 2001 was not a good year for the world or me. After 9/11 I quit my job, my boyfriend and smoking. I think I associated smoking with the other crappy counterparts I quit. This time went very well. I woke up, ate, drank coffee and alcoholic beverages with no cravings...took a couple months but. I was free. I then picked up smoking last year at a job that was very stressful. I started hanging out where other employees smoked, started taking drags, started bumming and I was back to buying my own packs. I need to quit this. It will kill me. I'm glad my throat is so sore......It is good giz |

Hey giz... I'm almost a year quit. You'll start to feel better after the first 3 or 4 days. Isn't it funny? I had quit a number of times, too... but never remembered how it went. When would the headache stop? When would I stop coughing? When would I stop beating the passenger seat at stoplights? I did begin to recognize that day 9 was my cave-in day. May I recommend Charms Caramel-Apple pops? Hugs! Smoke

Hang in there Giz. This is my second major quit and it is over 6 months now. I am determined to make it my last, and actually find it much less difficult (note that I didn't say "easy") than last time. I just try to see past the craving and keep looking at the big picture!! A healthy, smokefree ME is what I really strive to be, and so far so good, Hugs Ann

Smoke, I remeber the time when I was free. I would wake up and want coffee or juice, not a smoke. The thought of a cig didn't cross my mind anymore. I enjoyed wine and mixed drinks w/o needing a smoke in the other hand. I keep looking at the ashtray, thinking there will be a burning cig, instead, there's candy...okay...Another HALL's Fruit Breezer. Smoke, why do hardships all come clumped together? Quitting my addiction and dealing with the bf's A....dang. giz |

I know it seems like an avalanche. But really I think both things came out of your feeling dissatisfied and needing changes. Not everyone decides to change so much at once HUGS!
