I am a quitter alright! I already quit...the stopping part that is, just blew it the next day...but do space them far between, have reduced the amount, so I am trying, but I know I just have to stop..altogether, get through the first couple weeks, and then it will be easier....I think..I hope...I pray. Yikes, I won't give up trying, it's just amazing how powerful this habit/addiction is. I so regret ever starting, but I did, can't change that. Just got to deal with what is. Sorry, not an encouraging update.....will keep trying though.

Well, I was doing good until I put on a raincoat that I hadn't worn for a while and lo and behold a pack of smokes with two still in it happened to be there. What did stupid me do you ask? I smoked 'em. yea, so much for will power I am now just finishing day three all over again instead of day 6. Dagnabit anywho! Ok, sorry to bend your ears, but thanks for listening just the same. |

| Note to self...
Check all jacket pockets, old purses and any other article of clothing or accessory that I may want/need to use....be sure to empty all of any contraband (i.e. ciggys) before quit date! Oops! I was thinking out loud...did you all see it? |

lol... yeah, we heard ya! When I quit in February of 2003, I was quit for 3 months and then went to visit a friend who is a smoker - I gave in. The thing is, ANYTHING is a trigger to start again. You really have to fight to keep your focus. For me, I had to be quite forthright about setting boundaries too; If you are one to be triggered by watching friends smoke around you... ask them to smoke outside, away from you OR just don't hang out with them at all until you feel a little stronger. I am realizing how similar my addiction is to my husbands addiction(s)... It's like having the "dark side" pulling at you wherever you go; If you allow the thoughts to manipulate you back to smoking, then you've given the addiction back it's control over you. It has been said before, but what really helps me is keeping a particular outlook on it all. I have NOT lost something by quitting, I have GAINED something. The fact that I am willing to fight for my health and well being, means I am taking GOOD care of myself... and we all deserve it. Take care guys Meg

Meg~ You hit the nail on the head...And it is one of the strategies I used to stop my opiate addiction, every day no matter how rotten I felt, I said I am DOING something for my health, not losing my best friend, eliminating my worst enemy, that which seeks to destroy me. You have the right outlook for sure! I know you'll be successful in this! ***hugs***

Today is Day 6 and it has been the worst yet. I forgot how bad addiction felt. No wonder I smoked way too long. I am so glad to be quitting but it is very uncomfortable. I decided to do it cold turkey. Today was hard so I joined my first Nicotine group. Thanks for being here.
