And after three days all of nicotine is out of your system. You will be free of it physically. Keep it up friend! Healthier lungs await you. :-)

Hey, JB and Change. Opivotal mentioned this quitting smoking forum of the site. Rather than keep lurking, I'd like to join you.

I finished nearly 5 days without cigarettes. Had a setback at work and then picked up a pack this evening, dang it. Back to day 1 tomorrow.

Day 1. Did the right thing and threw away the pack of cigarettes last night. Lest I be tempted to fish them out of the garbage (yes, that desperate), I stuck the pack under the faucet first, squeezed it out, and then chucked it along with my lighter. Last time I disposed of my "final" pack of cigs, I still kept my lighter. Talk about self-sabotage.

Good luck to everyone today in staying smoke-free.

I am on day 10 of no cigarettes and I'm still craving them hard core. This is the hardest thing I have ever done. Kicking Vicodin was easier then this. I can smell a cigarette smoke a mile away! I was even looking on the ground at work to see if anyone dropped a whole cigarette. Just got to hang in there and fight.

Day 36 here, hang on guys, it will get better, much better!

Watch your breathing around week 2/3, your breathing function gets better, something you might not notice. I had light hyperventilation from all the extra oxygen in week 2 and 3 and had to do more breathing exercises.

Great job guys seriously!
Today is day 5 for me and I keep forgetting that I quit for a second constantly.
I will be driving in the car and for a split second be like, oh where are my butts or Oh I know! I should have a smoke....
It's so freaking hard sometimes that I need to go to sleep just to get away from myself...

Oh and the whole waking up at 3am each morning?! What is that all about? Lol

I can't wait for the cravings to diminish...

Good luck everyone and keep up the good work!!

Day 3 and doing okay. Fleeting thoughts of picking up a pack after work, but I was able to stomp that urge down.

Congratulations, JB, William and Geralt! Keep going strong.

Yes, JB. For me it was similar to withdrawal from heavy drinking. If I had more than my usual number of cigs, I had the 3am wake-up deal, suffered night sweats, and weird all-over shakiness in the mornings. Too much poison pumping through our bodies. Bah! Glad to be rid of it all.

Working on day 6 today...
I am very lucky to have such patient people around me.... seriously, I am a mess!
Whats really weird... I have no desire to drink at all since I quit smoking...
None, its gone.
All I crave now is a cigarette and that kind of makes me feel better in some twisted way.

Keep it up guys!! It completely sucks in every way possible but it will get better over time!!

Hey, JB. Good for you on Day 6. I'm on Day 4. Thought about smoking today, but the urge wasn't so strong. Kickin' it to the curb.

@JustBreath and FrenchPink

Keep it up guys! The cravings peak around 5-10 days. In a few days your breathing function will improve, as well as your appetite. Don't worry about those few extra pounds, it's better to have a snack than a cigarette

Thanks, JustBreath and Geralt. I'm reading your posts right after I failed on my 5th quit day for the second 5-day run in a row. Crap. Your advice is spot on for the 5-10 peak urge days, Geralt, and I'll be sure to remember that next time.

Temporary setback. Haven't given up, yet.

Congratulations to you two for staying quit.

It has become completely entangled and intertwined to every single aspect of our lives for the past how ever many years....

Cigarettes are so dangerous because they are so involved with our every day rhythm and seem to be a perfect fit for our "down times".

It is such a hard habit to break.... I cant wait for my 1 month to pass...
