Tomorrow is Cigarette Quit Day!

For about the 10th time in the last 30 years . . . I'm going to quit smoking tomorrow!

I registered for a 2nd smoking cessation study (did one about a year and 1/2 ago, but went right back to the cigs). In this study I was placed in a nicotine free cigarette group. I've been smoking the nicotine free cigs for 6 weeks and am due to quit tomorrow.

I'm feeling good about it, trying to stay positive and plan to use my 12 Step (AlAnon) knowledge to help me. The last time I tried to quit I felt pressured into it by my daughter . . . this time it's all been ME.

Say a prayer for me if you read this. I'll keep you updated on my success!

Prayers going out! Good luck! How do you get into one of those smoking cessation studies?

Thanks Suki. I'm struggling a bit right now

It's 1:47 pm here. In the past few weeks I've only had 1 cigarette by now . . . but didn't today of course. I'm feeling stressed and anxious right now, decided coming to SR would help me . . . I'll say a prayer after this too.

I used clinicaltrials.gov and narrowed it down by the map. There were a couple studies going on in my area when I looked. I also get paid (small) per visit, so that helps too!

I am here to cheer you on JMFburns!

I quit in July after 25 years and I am so happy that I did! I have an app on my phone that reminds me of my time and money saved. I look at it when I am feeling weak. I have saved $480.00!!! Can you believe it?? Plus, my husband quit the day I did too, so we have saved almost twice that!

I quit cold turkey and it was not easy but I am SO proud of myself! Also, after about a week or so of not smoking, I was feeling very jittery, upset, resentful, etc. I read this book called The Easy Way to Stop Smoking (Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking > Books). It was amazing. It really gave me a whole new perspective on my smoking and kinda re-brainwashed my thoughts on smoking. I no longer have any resentments nor feel deprived. I feel nothing but sympathy for those that smoke and I do not envy them "being able" to smoke while I can't. Rather I see it is feeling sympathy for them because they HAVE to smoke.

Just sharing my experience but however way you do it, you CAN do it and I am here cheering you on!

Thanks for the replies.

It's been a day and a half. Some of it has been easy, some of it has been a struggle. I just want to be done with the smokes though so going back is not an option...

It is nice to have a place to vent about it and know no one will think I'm crazy and people will support me. One Day At A Time!

It has been 15 days, WOW! I can't believe it.

Sometimes I have a strong craving or nostalgic desire, but they do seem to disappear pretty quickly, I'm surprised.

I've prayed over Step 1 from time to time over the past 15 days, I think that has really, REALLY helped.
