I had no idea there was a forum for smoking. I keep finding such interesting things every day on this site... I have been currently on the "quitting drinking" newcomer forum at the present time. But I have smoked, and have since I was 10, (that seems so young), only reason why I started was because my mother said "Do as I say, not as I do" thing. To go in a positive attitude, I smoked menthols for 13 years, I switched to regulars, and I quit smoking cigarettes and went to regular small filtered cigars, I used to smoke about a pack a day, more if I drank... now with these if I drink I smoke about quarter-half a pack a day. If I dont drink I only smoke about 3-4 a day. They get your fill I tell you what.. I smoke the swisher little cigars they are called. I have quit twice for a 11-12 month period, When I found out I was pregnant and breastfeeding. Otherwise I picked them right back up. I can quit like nothing, So am I really addicted or bored? They dont taste like the most wonderful thing I've ever had. I can go all day with just a few... Or I can smoke a pack... I think I like it more than *I like it*. But I try and quit now and it just makes me angry. I tried to upload the pack of reasons why to quit in the annoucements on this section, but dial up, it threw me off the internet. I know the health risks of smoking, I had pneumonia for a total of 6 months last year due to I wouldn't quit (especially menthol where it paralizes your cilia in your lungs), But I would love to quit. I'd like to think of one of those people that smoke when they drink. Not all the time. I just get so bored. Anyone smoke purely just because your bored? Does this mean your addicted when you cant go buy a buy a pack and get upset? However, if your pregnant, or on vacation you have no desire to smoke? Thank you, Tanya |

| Well then I think you should haha I was a cigarette smoker but I remember once I smoked swishers for a couple weeks during a couple years off the ciggs... I didn't find it easy to give them up (not as hard a ciggs) it felt more mental... but they are just cheap cigars I felt stupid smoking them... I went back to ciggs some period after I gave up cheap cigars and I'm back on the smoke free bandwagon--along with many of my friends from this site. Humbly on day 16... best wishes...

Yea, I think its the same problem here, Its more mental than anything else. Well might as well get all of this out of my system. Haven't had one today at all and Im not craving. Also haven't had a drink, day three or four. Not sure. I find mostly the cigars give me something to do, I normally just mess with tape, in my fingers/hands, gives them something to do and I dont think about wanting to light up. Thanks for the reply, This wont be hard to me personally. |

Hi Tanya, If you have been smoking since 10 and have smoked for years you probably got the "A" word. LOL You indicate that you have an alcohol problem also. Some find it better to quit both simultaneously and others prefer to tackle one at a time. I would either do both concurrently or if I chose to quit one at a time I definitely would stop alcohol first. When I drank I could not accomplish things very well (understatement!!) Please hang around and let us know how you are doing. I hung around here for a few days and wound up quitting smoking. Good Luck |
