Hey all,

Kind of a weird day... Two test on Monday and an essay due... all I did was sit around watching TV, I only read one chapter. I made it to a meeting which was good. But I feel bad for being so unproductive. Saw a struggling young person in meeting, heard another young person went out. 2/4 of us have gone out recently... It seems like we are dropping like flies... I dunno just wanted to get some stuff out there... I'm not in danger of picking up a smoke, or anything else. But I have found myself taking like 5-10 hits of caffeine a day the last 4/5 days or so... which is kind of weird my last chemical is telling me that I should use even it to excess... haha sorry for rambling day 18 without a smoke... Trying to remain grateful... take it easy everybody...

I've done the same thing...no dope, no cigarettes, so darn it I'll overdo the chocolate I just look at it as a reminder that I'm a recovering addict, I'm not perfect, and it doesn't happen very often. I do pay attention, though, when it happens because, as you say, something is just not right.

Good to hear all who are still not smoking. I'm not smoking, still, don't know how many days, but it's been quite a few. Still under a ton of stress, but taking it one day, one step at a time.

Hugs and prayers!

Amy

Thanks for the encouragement Amy... got through another day no real cravings few scattered thoughts but no big deal. Much more productive today. Bless everyone who isn't picking up a smoke today. And those still suffering...

Hi guys, haven't checked in in a while, glad to see you are all hanging in there, I am too!

Teiger - WOW, great! How do you keep track down to the minute after four + years! CONGRAT TO YOU!!

Impurrfect - glad to see you doing great and staying with it.

Sunrise - congrats 3 weeks

Jack - keep on keeping on!

Have any of you seen the smoking commercials where the lady is at the office making a drink to go with her cigarette at break. The line is "you don't drink everytime you smoke, but you smoke everytime you drink" And the one where the guy takes the fed ex truck to drive because he has to drive everytime he smokes. They're kinda funny.

Anyway, we don't need smoke anymore! Whippie Yeah!

I was tempted when I first saw smokers at a Halloween party...but that impulse was followed by my reasoning that I am not a smoker any longer.

A good life is good.

Good for you Sun. I noticed that some smokers seemed almost resentful that I quit. Now that I do not smoke But I am also noticing a lot more people in AA that either never smoked or have quit smoking. A club I attend occasionally that allowed smoking in a back room no longer allows any smoking in the building.

I began to take notice of AA folks I knew that had died in the last year or had serious illnesses related to smoking. The numbers are staggering.

You are doing great, keep pluggin!!

Yeah I don't think the guy was resentful--just a bit surprised. He had told me I should stop smoking when he told me he had a lung infection. Another one of my close friends in the program confided that he had early stages of emphysema. I didn't give up cirrhosis to wheez my way into an early grave...

To be honest when I was smoking I was resentful of the people who had stopped. Thats not entirely true I just didn't like it when people came up to me and told me they had quit and suggested I did the same. That is why I didn't tell anyone I quit, I just let 'em figure it out... way more satisfying

Enjoy the day everyone

I'll be at two months this weekend & I feel wonderful! The brief urges for a ciggarette have stopped or at least I don't notice them anymore. I can't imagine any circumstances that would cause me to relapse- I consider myself a non-smoker who knows how bad smoking is.

The real thing that made me smile yesterday was I was standing downwind from a smoker & I actually moved so I was upwind.

It's been a while, but I passed the 100 day 3 days ago. This is the longest I have ever stayed quit. I know I will never smoke again.

Hey all checking in... Was on a meditation retreat up in Malaysia. As opposed to singapore they have my favorite brand (lucky filters) But I am very happy to report that I stayed away from the first puff... I was able to enjoy a great weekend smoke and drink free... Coming up on a month w/o a cigarette soon!

Red face Still breathin air

Hi guys. Well I am back posting and glad I am not doing it in a negative way. Check in I have been smoke free for sixty plus days. It is possible and I don't miss it at all. I have even begun laughing inwardly at other smoking sufferers.

good by nicotine monster

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

Sun....a meditation retreat in Malaysia?.......that sounds wonderful!

I went to see Eddy Izzard Live at the SECC last night. All in all we were in the building for about 4 hours. Went for a stroll around then had a bite to eat before taking our seats and just relaxing for a while before the show started.

It would have been all so different if I was still smoking. I would have been out in the cold till the last minute to get another few puffs to last till interval. Then I would have been on edge during the show waiting for half time to get my fix.

I'm so glad it's not like that anymore.

The show was great....the guy is a comedy genius!

It sure has been quite around here lately. Hope everyone is hanging in there today and breathing fresh air or air free of tobacco smoke at least.

Things here have been up and down, out of full time work, getting concerned but I know that smoking or drinking will not help anything.

Just trying to stay up.

I was tempted yesterday...the smoker knew it without my asking...and shook me off from asking to bum a smoke from her. I am grateful to her. I need to get over the slothfulness I feel...and caving in to undisiciplined behaviors. I need to be grateful for what I have...and not go crazy over what I want.

Thanks to all for being here.
