| Cough Remedies?
I'm coughing alot today What do you do to calm an irritating cough? I've tried a spoonful of honey with black pepper. Hot tea. Cough drops. Sipping water alot. I even bought an asthma inhaler to help when it was unbearable, don't know if that's safe really because I don't have asthma. What do you do to calm the quit cough?? |

Green tea, lots of it helped me clear some of the toxins out of my system. Hot water with lemon juice soothes my throat.

That's it. I'm going to the doctor. I cannot stop coughing for hours on end. I'm up till 3 a.m. coughing and coughing until my chest hurts and I can feel my bronchial tubes burning. And I cough so hard it sounds like a freaking honk. I can't have a conversation. I can't read a book because I'm convulsing and coughing so much. I can't eat a meal without being interrupted by coughs. I'm sick of it!!

So I went to the doctor after waking up feeling horrible, barely able to breath, and with a very rough cough. I was miserable. Well, the doctor thinks I have allergies, too, since I have a runny nose, headache, sinus pressure, etc. Which compounds to my quitting cough. Anyways, I got some steroids to ease the inflammation in my chest and sinuses and that has helped ease my cough ALOT. But the steroids cause insomnia, so I got some codeine cough syrup, too. I'm barely even taking my Chantix anymore because I'm on so many different friggin drugs now. I haven't wanted to smoke in a while now. It's been 25 days smoke free now. Ummm, so yea, corticosteroids. They help. |

That creeping crud has been running around here too. I smoke, DH quit two years ago and we both have it. We've been taking Mucinex during the day and I have Tessalon Perls (perscription only) at night. The Tessalon Perls numb the cough center. I cannot take liquid cough and cold meds. The taste/feeling whatever sets off my gag reflex anyway. My 7 year old has DXM syrup for at night and we've been giving her Mucinex during the day (per her doctor). I hope you get relief soon. Uck.

Thanks. yea, I had a feeling my "quit cough" was not normal because it was so invasive and irritating and off/on wet/dry. I still didn't feel sick, necessarily, and didn't believe I had allergies (never had a problem before) but maybe I do now. Just a weird time to quit, i guess, during the spring and stuff. I just hope I get over it soon and continue on my quitedness. | |

I sure hope your feeling better Redruby. There is a lot of pollen around this time of year. I have a headache and itchy eyes all day. It's good that you went to the doctor, cause a cough could be a few different serious things. It's good that you know it's not that serious.
