| What about you has *improved* since quitting?
I'd like to see what all of our bodily (and other) improvements have been in our lives since we decided to quit smoking. Mine are: *my skin is better! I used to get lines from my nose to corners of mouth if I smoked alot (and I'm only 23!) Now I just have small lines if I'm smiling or laughing. *My teeth are getting whiter. I noticed it in pictures. I whiten, but it's definitely more effective now. *My breath is better (duh) *My hair smells better, not like a butt *My sense of smell is better, but I smell smokers and cigarette smoke much more intensely now. *My breathing is better. *My nails are not yellow *Being with my boyfriend is better. He doesn't have to smell smoke on me or wait for me to huff one down, or deal with second-hand smoke. *Of course, my bank account is better, too. What are you "betters"? Maybe it'll remind us all of *why* we are doing this and why it's all worth it. |

I quit chewing, so...... My gums aren't sore. My teeth aren't stained. The side of my vehicle isn't splattered brown. Food tastes awesome. I don't have nightmares about my teeth falling out. My skin looks better. I can smile without fear of having tobacco stuck in my teeth. I'm not trying to hide it all the time. I've saved thousands of dollars in the last 4 years, being free from tobacco & booze. Thanks RR, these reminders are wonderful motivators!

My breathing is better. I can laugh without having a coughing fit. I can take deep breaths of fresh air without a coughing fit. My home smells fresh. I smell fresh. My fingers aren't stained. My toungue isn't burning. I'm not getting strange sensations in my legs. I've not had any chest pains. I can look forward to a long brisk walk (I used to sweat at the thought). I've saved about £80 in less than 3 weeks.....incredible!! I feel as if the shackles have been taken off......I'm freeeeeeeeee!! |

Just remembered another two... ...My sense of smell is better and I can taste my food! Thanks for this thread RR....it's really good to keep reminding ourselves how bad it was and how much better it can be.....for all the reasons we wanted to quit. How easily we can forget! |

My ability to be a people pleaser appears to have disappeared. Anyone else have this? It's like I have this new strength to say NO to people. It is very odd. It may just be because I feel irrated but I don't think so as I don't get angry about whatever it is. Just nah, I'd rather not do that etc...

| Holy cow, I just realized that I'm experiencing the same thing! My fingers and toes would get cold so easily! I didn't even realize that they don't anymore. I guess those blood vessels and capillaries like getting their oxygen and not being so restricted!

My fingers and toes really did. Sometimes it was really painful like if I grabbed something cold out of the fridge. Totally gone since I stopped smoking. I wonder what else we just haven't noticed yet, probably a bunch of stuff. Liz, I know what you mean about the people pleasing stuff. Early on I was very cranky and now I am just back to normal cranky. LOL |

My feet would get so cold I would get cramps in my toes........very painful, and come to think of it I don't think it's happened since I've stopped, so thanks for the reminder. I'm sure there will be more stuff we hadn't thought of. Hi Sis..... ......stick around and you'll be a non smoker before you know it!!

If I got a little out of breath. I would feel like I was suffocating and start to cough uncontrollably. In just 2 weeks. That has stoppped.
