| Member | Started chantix today
Hi everyone, Just wanted to update everyone. I tried to stopping smoking last week without much luck. I saw my Dr. today and got my starter kit for chantix. I'm hopeful that this will help. I didn't realise you still smoke the first week you start taking it. I did cut back some. I'm also getting my mind more ready this time and praying to my HP to help me be "willing" and also have "acceptance" to quit smoking.

I don't know a great deal about chantix, but I have read about alot of people that it worked really well for. I hope it helps you too. I have found for me getting the right attitude has helped most. It's a positive thing that we are doing. |

Hi everyone, Just want to let everyone know I'm still taking my Chantix. Day 3 tonight. I don't want to write on the daily check-in until i actually quit. I wouldn't feel right about it. So my 2nd week on it will be Day 1 for me quitting smoking. Oh, and my husband is smoke free now. Today is day 8 for him. He's on the patch. I was talking to my sponser about why I'm having a harder time then he is. She thinks it's most likely because I'm an addict/alcoholic to begin with. He's not. So i don't know. I still praying to my HP and getting ready. See ya soon on the daily thread.

Great Scaredy, Fantastic effort, remember to keep your seat belt fastened early on and in a couple of days it should get a lot easier. It's great your hubby is joining in the effort also so you can support each other. Keep going!! |

I am on my second month of Chantix. I've not smoked for 30 days! You can do it!! Be SURE to join the GET QUIT program offered free with your prescription. You check in everyday through your email. They have great tips that really are very useful.Check in at THIS BOARD, too, everyday. This place is so very helpful. Chantix has been great for me. I get a bit nausious about 10 min after taking the pill and it only lasts about 2 min. Not too bad. Be sure to take deep breaths throughout the day. This will help with the urge to puff. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Feeling a little hyper today, feel like I am speeding, don't know if its the Chantix or not. First time I felt like this in a long time, don't like the feeling. Went to meeting and someone there told me her Doctor said she heard they might be taking it off the market? Has anyone heard that one? Anyway, I will breathe, thanks Cinj for the positive post.

| Member | No i haven't heard that Believe. It wouldn't surprise me though the way they take different drugs off the market cause they put them on too soon without more research done on them.

| Member | I haven't had any problems yet. No bad dreams yet either. I'm on Day 5 today. Hopefully it stays that way and I don't have any problems. I know quite a few people in AA that was on it and it worked for them. 1 guy has been smoke-free 2 years and another 1 year.

Hi Believe808, I didn't take Chantix but I did notice that coffee seemed to have triple action early on when I quit. One cup of coffee really had me buzzing. Don't know if that is related but thought I would mention it just in case. Hang in there!! |

Well I have been taking the Chantix for 5 days and Wednesday is my quit date. Haven't had any more problems with it so far. ScaredyKat, how are you doing so far? I am one of those people who it worked for about 2 years ago. I had quit smoking for about 1 year but went back right before I went into rehab. |

just copying and pasting what I just posted on another thread... I just finished week two and I only experienced the vivid dreams (but not nightmares) and a silght nausea in the morning. Yesterday it was the first day when I didn't want to smoke. I just didin't. It didn't interest me. I smoked one in the morning and that was it. I haven't touched one since. The cravings are just gone. Disappeared. I didn't even have to set a quit day. If I think abouth smoking (maybe once every hour) I just associate it to the horrible taste the cigs had when I was smoking on Champix (that's what it's called in Europe). For me, it's a miracle drug, but we are all different... I'm going to take it for another month at least to make sure I don't relapse... good luck to you all with it! P.S. I didn't feel like stop smoking until I was well into the second week, so I would advise not to rush into it... |
