I exercised enough this a.m.
cleaned the carpeting in the dining room.
Moving furniture, and all that should count for some exercise.

I seem to be munching less.
Used to be I had to have gum
or something continuously! (It's a good thing)

1 month 1 week and 2 days for me!

Ya hoo, I'm feeling better every day!

I do have a craving for this dessert I had in Canada last Summer.
Can't remember the name though.
It was a pound cake drizzled with a brown sugar creme butter sauce.
I thought it was called Sucre La Creme, but that's a fudge when I look it up.
Anybody have any idea?

Hello everyone!!!!! I hit my one month yesterday and still loving how great I feel. I have been kinda gloom and doom with Christmas coming and usually by now my decorations are up. I didn't want to because my house is so cluttered. I came home from work yesterday and worked, worked and worked going through more stuff and giving to Goodwill. They are going to start looking for me to pull up now...been so many times already.

I just feel like if I get some of this #@*# out of my house...I will enjoy the decorations more.

Oh Chippa! you guys are going to have so much fun with the Wii!!! For days now I have been looking for the Wii Fit...I have heard so many great things about it and that it's actually a pretty good workout for those of us who aren't die hard aerobic people....(like me) so I am looking and looking...all stores sold out and finally, my friend at work called me last night and said they had them at Toysrus but you had to go to the electronics desk and ask since they quit putting them out on display....So, I went this morning and got lucky!!! So I told husband that it can be my Christmas present this year!!! I am soooooooo excited!!! Oh, and I also got my treadmill key in the mail so now I have no excuses not to get with it on exercising!!!!!!

Alice and Moose.....congrats on keepin on keepin with the no smoking! We are all doing so well!!!!!!!

WOW ONE MONTH!!!

That's awesome- I knew you were right around there-

Is the Wii fit more $$ than the regular wii? I was just talking to a co-worker about it-

my wife informs me that you buy the wii (around 300) and that only comes with ONE controller so now we have to go get THREE more if we're all going to play

gouging sonofa...

I know I know it's Christmas

I wish the Wii was MY idea

Good gravy, we're all doing terrific!

Haven't even started Xmas shopping yet, but know when I do
I'm spending a lot less than I usually do.

Hugs....

PS, you know what's funny? we have a Wii Fit at my gym! I haven't tried it yet though. Sometimes at work we have these little health seminars, today we had one about the gym and it talked about the Wii Fit and how you definitely burn calories using it. This woman said the Wii Boxing game burns the most calories... might get a little tension out too, boxing around! Sounds fun to me...

Good morning to all! Steam..wow...I knew you could do it!!! It's funny how when you are ready..reallllly ready...the cravings seem to go away.

I had a moment last night where something upset me..and I wanted one real bad but fortunately it only lasted a few minutes....I just talk to myself and contemplate on how hard I worked to get to this moment....why screw it up now!! No smoke will ever make your anger go away.

Okay...I love my Wii. Chippa, the wii fit right now at stores if you can find it is 89.00 in my neck of the woods. Check Toysrus, Sams,Target, Kmart, Walmart, Bestbuy,Circuit City....all of those kinds of stores for the best price. I got lucky getting mine. Ebay is selling them around 150 which is WAY too high....I guess people who want them to surprise someone is faced with paying that much. I decided that if I could not find one under 100, I was going to wait until after Christmas because people will no longer be looking as hard.

We bought an extra numchuk and remote. Now you can have more than one player per remote so keep that in mind. Also, there are certain games that come with a remote. A friend of mine bought a game and it was cheaper to buy the game that came with a remote than to buy the remote only. They are 39.99 and the numchuks are 19.99. Also, we want the MarioKart and it comes with a steering wheel so that way if you bought that game and an extra steering wheel than you have two. There are lots of different ways of obtaining the extras so you just have to look around to see what is being offered.
I am not going to set up my Wii Fit until Christmas. It's my present to myself!!

Alice, I have read where people are losing weight with the Wii Fit so you should try it!!

Moose, I have not started buying either but lots of my folks are not wanting to exchange due to our economy so I won't be doing much outside of my kids.

Well, I am going to get back to my decorating....I'll check in when I take breaks since my breaks are not outside anymore!!!!!!!!!1

Oh Alice, I am so sorry to hear you are feeling that way. I really miss your long inspiring posts. You always have something profound to say. I always look forward to looking to see what everybody is into. Christmas blues....I have been there so many times myself. I am not exactly in a wonderful marriage and I have to keep telling myself to snap out of it and enjoy what little time I have on this earth. I got to the point that I was tired of waiting for things to get better. My kids need me and other members of my family do to. I can't sit here and be sad because of someone else's actions. I am only responsible for my own happiness and eventually things will fall where they may. My big start was to stop smoking. I was using that to feel better about things when all it was doing was killing me. I like coming on here because I get encouragement and inspired. It's missing in my household. I think I said before that my husband didn't seem to excited about me quitting and it's still that way. That made me mad and sad but what can I do? Well, I can be happy for me instead of worrying about someone not being very attentive. I refuse to give in to sadness because this should be a happy time. No one will stop me from having a good attitude and being happy.
I know this is not the place to spill out personal troubles but I do link smoking to problems in life. Plays a big part. When you realize that only you can take control of your happiness...it seems to take a lot of stress away.
Alice, I will pray for you and hope you get in a writing mood again so I can be inspired!!!

Yep this time of year seems to have no middle of the road attached to it

you're either flying high or in the stinks

Palm I think you've got a pretty good outlook- you do what you can do, but ultimately you can only physically control yourself, make it work

Today I started thinking about stuffed mushrooms (wow, I segued to food somehow, there's a shocker)

I don't know if I'm going to make them for Xmas or NYE, but there will be venision stuffed mushrooms in my house before 2009....

Way to go Steam! It's a wonderful feeling isn't it???? And yes, smoking plays havoc on your nervous system.

Sounds like you are on your way! Great Job!!

ha Chippa, I like that - "in the stinks" That's definitely where I am. Trying not to let it get the best of me. This was a really lousy year for me, I keep telling myself -a few more weeks and it will be over, and a whole new year will begin...

Palm, it makes me feel good to know I've been helpful and even a little inspiring to you or anyone on this board. I'm just so proud and amazed at how well we're all doing. I've felt the way Steam does - it's almost been too easy, like I'm waiting for a shoe to drop. And while there have been some cravings and even one or 2 "danger moments" where I almost caved - I didnt, and I know in my heart that I don't want to. In the past, I've put up a good front but known inside "yeah, I'm gonna smoke again" I don't feel that way at all this time, instead I feel like, it's not part of who I am anymore. Part of a different life, even if that's the only thing that changes. Like seeing an old boyfriend or somethng - sure, lots of great memories, but I don't want to get back together!!

I'm excited for this weekend, there is a big dog show in Boston that my friend and I go to every year. I love love love dogs but I can't have one in my apartment, so I love going and looking at all the funny faces and getting to pet a few.

Quitting definitely messed with my nervous system and anxiety level. It kept me hunched over in the kitchen smoking butts, instead of going to the gym or reading or doing anything else. It kept me stuck, and even if I am feeling blue these days, I'm so glad I'm not stuck there anymore... like you said Palm, about it playing a part in your life. It's almost like somehow your mind starts to think you're "dealing" with a problem - because you're sitting and smoking and mulling it over... I don't know any problem that ever got solved that way!

Thanks everyone for being such a caring group.. what would I do without you guys!!

LATE check in!

I was at the Casino in Erie PA with my mom, and the best part is:
WE BOTH WON!

She won about $500, and I brought home $700!
I very rarely win, so it was a great trip!

AND, go figure, not very many people there, so
no smoke temptation.

I drove home for 3 hours in a blinding snowstorm, big accident on a bridge,
4 cars demolished, and one hanging over the rail, and cars slipping and sliding all over. And once home, it's not snowing here whatsoever.

I thank my H.P. he helped me make it home all in one piece!

Good job Steam!
YOU are doing GReaattt.. (like Tony the Tiger says LOL)

Wow Moose!! what a great time to win right here at Christmas! You can send us all a present!!!

Alice, glad to see you are trying to overcome the "stinks" as Chippa calls it. Glad you are staying strong in not smoking..WTG! Yes, I have had one "danger" moment but didn't do it! I worked too hard to get here.

I will be busy once again with Christmas decorations. I am going slow...one thing at a time. I have to hang some wreaths and garland outside and it's a little nippy here so not looking forward to my hands freezing.

My daughter is coming home with a friend whom I have never met. My daughter has to go to work for a few hours today and is just "dropping off" this girl at our house whom I don't know from Adam. That will be awkward for sure....lol. I guess I'll put her to work with decorating..... The good thing is she is only working from 2-5. My luck and she'll be real weird....lol!!!!!!!!1

Palm- you wonder if that kid isn't thinking I hope this girl's mom isn't some sort of weirdo!!

We are having a sleepover tonight- both my sons are inviting over friends- no doubt our house will be complete bedlam- there's a change of pace-

moose congrats on your big win, that's awesome! Nothing like leaving one of those places up- hasn't happened to me yet ever, but I've seen people do it, I'd imagine it's fun

Alice my wife is the same way about dogs- always watching the dog whisperer and such- she even makes that shhht noise to the kids and me if we're doing something she doesn't like- I don't know if I mentioned this but we have 2 right now- a pit bull and a feist- the pit bull is the only one who listens, the other eats EVERYTHING- tree ornaments, pencils, tissues, dental floss, play doh, sticks, our downstairs phone looks like it went through a blender- makes for a great time picking up dog business in the backyard

A buddy of mine's band is playing tonight about 2 blocks from my house, I'm hoping I can sneak out after the dust settles around the homestead-

have a good weekend everyone

keep it up man, and remember you're not only avoiding trecherous consequences, you're reaping the benefits of a healthier lifestyle

It's funny Steam, I was just saying this to someone the other day... I don't know what it is about the human mind - I feel better when I workout, eat healthy, get enough sleep, take time to relax... and I feel worse when I drink too much, smoke too much, skip the gym and eat junk food... yet why is it that sometimes the choice to do the good thing is so hard, and the choice to do the bad thing so easy? Why do I seem to forget this information, that's coming from inside of me, and is about how I feel, when I know what will make me feel good, and what will make me feel bad.. I don't know! I'm so glad to be sticking with the good healthy decisions right now, it makes all the difference in all aspects of life...
Chippa, sounds like another adventure at your place! Have fun!

Morning all,
I'm going to a juried craft show today! The problem is, my sister is going with me and she's a smoker! It's okay though, I can do this.

Have a great day everybody.
