Jinx, it is totally worth it! Everybody's body is different, give it time and the cravings will fade... You don't NEED to smoke, it's just your mind playing tricks on you, the part of your mind that is addicted to nicotine... but that doesn't mean you need to listen to it! hang in there, and the cravings will fade, and you will start noticing changes in your body - more energy, smelling better, food will taste better, you won't be coughing or wheezing... It's worth it!

Jin, I truly think that knowing you are quitting plays so many mind games with you. I mean as soon as you know you can't have something makes you want it more. At least that is how it has been for me. It is very overwhelming but you are at the right place. Sit down and post and talk about what you are going through. This forum has helped me get through my decision process and talking with people who are there like you and people that have been there, is very, very helpful.
I am taking Chantix and it is working. You may want to consider that if you need to. Stay strong and get busy doing something. I never understood that cravings only last 3-5 minutes until I was faced with cutting down from 15 plus cigs a day to 1-5 a day. The way the Chantix works is you taper off, set a quit date and it's amazing. But, if you are 72 hours into it.....don't stop. You have accomplished so much already!!!!!!

Palmetto, I think that's exactly right, once you think you can't have something - you want it all the more. I try to think of it as the opposite - sure, I could go out and buy a pack any hour of any day. I'm not giving up or losing anything - I'm choosing to stop smoking, bcause of everything I will gain - increased energy, money, health.. By thinking of the cigarette as something you can't have - it makes it out to be more important than it really is. But remember what it truly is - a dirty, nasty expensive habit, that will slowly make up sicker and sicker... that's not something to desire!

I'm not giving anything up - I'm getting more and more every day!

Flavored toothpicks

Flavored toothpicks help a lot! Cinnamon flavored ones especially.

Great job! I promise it gets easier. At first you feel like a smoker that's being deprived of nicotine, but eventually you start feeling like a non-smoker. It gets better every day!
