| Asking for prayer
Good morning friends, This morning I asked my H.P. to give me strength to fight my nicotine addiction, and what did HE say? He sure got my attention! I had a fit of coughing, and proceeded to throw away everything associated with my nicotine addiction. So, here today, I start again, and I ask if you could include me in your prayers. Thank you....

Moose you got it- Remember to reward yourself- drink lots of fluids- tea, seltzer, just not things that remind you of you know what (I had to giveup coffee for a week or so) get used to changing up your routine- pick different TV shows or DVR them and watch them at different times- take breaks from work differently- I used a different bathroom in my office during the first few weeks- the longer walk was a distraction and I didn't think about smoking when I left Keep your eye on the ball and you have my prayers as well you can do it

Well...let's see...I gave up coffee the first, second, third and fourth time I quit....and changed to hot tea, and never looked back. So, NOW I was drinking hot tea, and puffin away. This time, I am taking the bull by the horns, and just making up my mind, and chewing gum, and lots of H2O, and still drinking tea. (and taking alot of deep deep cleansing breaths.)

Moose, I am a tea drinker myself. Even though sometimes at home I would smoke with a cup of tea, for some reason it just isn't a trigger the way that coffee is! Something about coffee and a cig go so well together, I had to give up the coffee on my last quit too... I read recently that some chemical in cigarettes somehow smooth out the jitteriness of a coffee caffeine high, so maybe that has something to do with it... I drink decaf tea now anyway... and lots and lots of water!! I know they say when you quit smoking, your cough sometimes gets worse because your lungs finally have the ability to start getting rid of some of the junk that's in there... it didn't happen last time I quit, but I'm hoping it does this time in a way... something about the idea of getting rid of all the junk in my lungs is very appealling!!

Moose. I had a similar thing happen. About two months ago, I started having this horrible cough. So bad at times, I would gag. When I got my SSD, I found a good doctor who ran me through a battery of tests and prescribed Chantix. I'm on Day 13 and think my quit date is today. I keep asking God to remove this addiction from me, so that I can be of better service to those who need me. My cough has stopped. My cravings are lessening. With God, all things are possible. I know, because until September of this year, I was homeless for 2 years, and now have a fabulous job, home of my own, and a horse! Keep turning it over and NOT taking it back! |
