Wanting to stop -- again!

Hi

I stopped smoking for three years, using nrt and a local stop smoking group, but like a complete idiot, started again last year. Now, of course I am back to my old ways. 25 days clean of alcohol and I really need to get rid of the smoking as well. It's like only being 'half' well!

I want to set a date for stopping but am almost too scared!

I don't really want to go back to the group though.

Help!!
sas

sas go for it-

just showing up here and 'kicking the idea around' is the first big step-

You know you can do it-

my biggest help was postiong on internet message boards when I quit-

This board here is starting to pick up a little bit as far as chatter goes, keep checking in here and let us know how it's going!

Hi Coolmummy, I feel like you do as well. I started smoking only when I was drinking but ended up a full time smoker. Now I have quit drinking (71 days) I want to quit smoking too. I did go four weeks but have been smoking the last week again. Today is my new quit date. The only thing I would say by doing both together is, I found out that I can't allways tell my cravings apart. I could have quite easily ended up drinking last week instead of smoking.

I think it is more scarey to think about quitting than actually quitting though. The only thing you can really do is set a date and give it a go. You have done it before so you know what to expect, I find coming here is helpful, reading everyones experiences and getting some encouragement. If you used NRT before and it worked maybe that is the way to go again? If you don't want to go back to your old group, there are online groups you can join, I find them helpfull.

Good luck

Sax
