| Freedom Will Find You
Some more from my friend, Daniel... The Inspirational Advice: Be of good cheer. Act as though it were impossible to fail. Don`t confuse how you are during one of the most stressful periods of your life with how you are `as a nonsmoker.` In time, you will find that you are the same person you always were, only calmer, happier, and healthier. Recognize that you are not fighting a chemical, that you are only fighting you. The way to peace is not to fight harder, but to stop fighting. That happens when the false beliefs about smoking are abandoned. You do not need more strength, either to fight against the cravings, or to help face the world without smoking. You need only realize that all of this strength (both that trying to get you to smoke, and that helping you manage your daily life) has always come from you, and you alone. Never from a lifeless paper tube of weeds. You don`t need to learn the way to live without smoking; you need to learn that smoking was getting in the way of living. The Repetitive Part I Can`t Find a Title for But Still Feel the Need to Write: You know those feelings and sensations you call craving or withdrawal, the things that make you `need` to smoke? The rest of the world also feels them, but recognizes them as the symptoms of stress. And just like you, they take a break, distract themselves, take a few deep breaths, and relax. That`s what makes things better. The only meaningful difference between you and the non-smoker you wish to become is one small mental error: the notion that it was smoking that helped. Recognize a craving as nothing but an error of logic, and you are on your way. The Bottom Line: You can believe in smoking, or you can believe in yourself. Peace to all, and ThanQ. Dan. Two years quit. One cigarette (that next one, the only one that ever mattered) not smoked.
