Your Quit Day is right around the corner. What do you have in stock in your little bag of tricks & treats? List things on a paper to do, just like you would for a wedding. Being prepared is how we become successful quitters! Something to distract negative thoughts and/or statements. . . Something to keep your hands busy. . . Some (at least 3) special (smoke-free of course) activities to do in the AM, Mid-Day, and PM. NB: Save them for Quit Day and Beyond only! Some things to relax you. . . Some things to motivate & energize you. . . Some things to help your concentration. . . Some things which help to delay yourself during a craving. NB: Know your trigger situations - emotional and physical triggers well! Think HALT - Hunger, Anger, Lonely, Tired. Then add your own. Know that there are: People Triggers Place Triggers Time of day Triggers Mood Triggers Tame them by what ever means necessary. Simply put, ACE = Avoid, Cope, Escape. Get away from the smoker in the smoking section (Avoid) Do something else to replace it during that time of day (Cope) Breath, relax, meditate (Escape) Postpone smoking just a few minutes. It will go away!! ![]() Keep at it all you newbies to the smoking cessation program. YOU CAN DO THIS! and if you are reading this YOU ALREADY ARE and most likely if you put your best foot forward YOU WILL CONTINUE ONWARD WITHOUT THOSE NASTY SICKERETTES. ODAAT = One Day At A Time (or one craving at a time in the early days) NQQ = Never Quit Quitting! With special thanks to Cess, and Melp for this posting! Shalom!

Teach.....Someone close to me just started using the Nicorette mints:the 4mgpack.. because she had just gotten her wisdom teeth(3) out and was not allowed to smoke..to her utter surprise they really helped and when she finally went to have a smoke 7 days later , in her words: they were gross...after realizing how much energy she has gotten back and having her skin colour return, she has decided to quit...she was at almost a pack a day.....

kmsj, I was at a party yesterday; just a small house party. I was the ONLY one who wasn't smoking! ![]() It was tough, more than once, let me tell ya! But, I prevailed. And the Chantix does really help, cuz, the few times I got a real physical craving, It didn't last long, even when others were smoking right in front of me! So, today, I am One week, 22 hours, 23 minutes and 25 seconds nicotine free. That's 158 cigarettes not smoked, saving $47.60. Life saved: 13 hours, 10 minutes. I've made it past Hell Week! ![]() Remember to keep the quit and post before you puff! ![]() Shalom!

Quote By: Martha Graham "The body is a sacred garment, it is what you enter life in and what you depart life with, and it should be treated with honor." Tip: PAUSE for quiet contemplation. Relax your mind and body for 3-5 minutes. It helps. You will regain your composure and direction and confidence and self-assurance and commitment..... It increases your energy and motivation too. Perhaps do this PAUSE every hour or every other hour. You'll be surprised how much it can do. Rest your head/eyes gently upon the palms of your folded/cupped hands (elbows on table or desk). Breath and listen to nothing but your breathing. Release the negative as you exhale and relax. Focus on your breaths. Watch how all the tension is released and every muscle, from the bottoms of your feet up to your facial muscles, relax. From cess's bag of tricks. PS (kinda hard to do that tip w/all the fireworking happening. BTW Hope everyone had a safe and happy and **smoke-free** Independence Day here in the USA. Happy B-day America! ![]() Last edited by cess101; 07-07-2008 at 12:33 AM. Reason: added something |
