Thumbs up Cess101 Here, Hello Historyteach

Hello Historyteach,

I have arrived (from TTS, remember?) and hope to see some of my other TTS pals join in on the discussions here soon. If I can be of any help, let me know. I heard from the forum leader, Carol D., already and received my 1st welcome from her. All must be functioning alright. This is free, isn't it? I'm still a bit confused on how to invite so will need to browse and read up a little more. You'll also find me on the Becomeanex place too. just a bit overwhelmed at the moment. Talk to you soon and......
Keep up the good quits everybody.

Hey, Cess!!!
Soooo glad you came over!!!
You've got loads of ESH to share and there's lots here who can give their own to you too!
(ESH = Experience, Strenght and Hope!)

Did you meet Carol on the Newcomers board? But, I see you only have one post, so, I don't know how that can be....
Anyway, I'm just THRILLED to see you here!

Today was the first day that I take two of the chantix. I'm on school vacation, (so they say...long story here... ) so, I'm up for the quit! YEA!!!

Look forward to working my quit with you again!

Notice my "imagine" signature here?

Shalom!

OK-

The wlecome comes right away when you register-

Hi Guys-

I'm actually making preparations for a big week coming up (I'm on vacation) but I wanted to pop in and say Hi-

I must be frank I like the set up here better than quitnet, although I may be a little 'pro' other substances aside from nicotine than I should be for this website-

although if they have smiley faces like this, maybe they're pretty open minded!

Teach, we're here for you, hang in there! today is your day (I don't know, I have been kooked out today trying to get everything together here at work so things will not self-destruct in my absence)

Hi cess!

CHIPPA!!!
Good to see you here!
And thanks for clearing up the welcome issue, LOL!

I used to go to the quit net, but, they have unmoderated chat, and they can get quite vile, so, I quit going. I had one guy harrassing me over and over. So, I said the heck with it! That's the last thing I needed when I was stressing over quitting and everything else, ya know?

Cess, I haven't been over to the becomeanex yet. I"ll stop over there and see if I see you tehre, though! Miss you.... *hug*
(We only get three smilies here...TTS had unlimited ones....I liked that soooo much! Could play all we wanted with the smilies! LOL! But, there's lots of 'em here, LOL! )

Today is my first day of my quit!!! Yea! Noontime!!! I gotta reset my counter! LOL!
I'm so proud of myself for taking this first step once more.

So, remember to keep the quit and post befor you puff!

Shalom!

hi

Here's to Re-grouping.....this could be kinda fun. (I like that icon, it's like being in a huddle making plans for the next goal)...... Good seeing you both. Congratulations on your quits. Historyteach, I know YOU can do this. This has been all tried and true for you. Keep up the Chantix if you feel you need but (figuratively speaking), I don't think you even need the stuff. From TTS, you know how I am about that. I had a whole bag of tricks ready, including some NRT's (gum), for battle. You need that if for nothing more than the frame of thought. It gives you a sense of security and quitters really need that place, as imaginary as it might be, to retreat to when too much pressure sets in from quitting and all. I wish you and everyone here great success. You Can Do It! And congratulations to Chippa.....6 months TUESDAY!

Cess,
Yes, I like this re-grouping too! It's like a family reunion!!!

I'm gonna stick with the chantix. I used it before and quit for two weeks. It worked so good, that I forgot to take it. I had no cravings/urges/nothing! But, I caved and started smoking again after the two weeks!

My doc said the best success is taking it for six months. Ok. I know I am fully addicted to nicotine. I know I also have to use every behavior in the book to fortify my quit. So, I set up my home gym yesterday, (cuz I can't afford to go to the gym anymore.) And it's summertime, so, there's the beach, and my garden. But, the chantix is part of my behavior plan too. I do not want to loose this fight for my life.

And I look forward to more of your puns and figures of speach!
You are the BEST at making those!

Chippa, your smilie didn't come up, but, no worries. It's a functional disorder, not a personal thing! :

Shalom!

I'm sooo happy to have found this place.....Thanks for referring me to it historyteach. Without it I would be having, um, smiley-face withdrawal. You know, the other smoking cessation which TTS'ers recommended (becomeanex.....) doesn't have icons. YOWCH! Haha-perhaps they were the trick? No, that was definitely the support from other quitters like you get here. I'll be around looking for lots of new smiling faces to join us. You Can Do This!!

Hey, Cess...
I saw you went to the TTS and said good bye on the tread I started... :
I'm gonna miss TTS....

But, I'm glad you're here.
And YEA, I did notice that the other place had no smilies! :
What's THAT about???
It's so much more fun with smilies! LOL!
Though we can only use three here... :>(
So, we learn to impovise too! LOL!

I hope Alice and Janet see the tread over there...you think they will come in today?
I hope so!!!

Oh, and I asked about a "Best of TTS" on the new whatever it's called....it's not a forum. I think it's a BAD mistake to close down the board. The other ones just don't have what TTS has. Fully devoted to smoke cessation; no weirdos; and has smilies. What more can you ask for?

Ok, well, I am now Three days, 2 hours, 6 minutes and 40 seconds smoke free. That's 61 cigarettes not smoked, saving $18.53. Life saved: 5 hours, 5 minutes.

And someone asked me to go out for a butt yesterday! OY!

Remember, keep the quit and post before you puff!

Shalom!

It's gone today...
I feel like we should play taps... And there's no bugle player smilie here like there was over there...

*sigh*

Alice and Janet never said goodbye...
I wonder why?

Hope to see you soon, my friends...

Shalom!

Hello Historyteach and Chippa,

I'm feeling a little "homesickened" so just wanted to say "hello." I've been to the ex site as well. It's quite a busy and crowded site but the more the merrier, I suppose. Anyway, I thought I'd hear from more and so missing the TTS'ers.

How are your quits going through the 4th celebrations and all? Mine went well and I was around umteen smokers, Grrr!!! (the urge still comes & goes, you know.....).

Have either of you visited makesmokinghistory yet? or tried working on the Ex plan to see what it is all about? Sounds interesting.........

Take good care.

Howdy!

I am just returning to my desk from a weeks vacation, that's why I haven't been up and about-

Man I know how you feel cess, I was at a cookout yesterday and it was like Custer's last stand the wy I was encircled by smokers the whole time-

I went to buy some beer over my vacation and my wife asked me to buy her a pack of cigarettes and after giving her a ration of crap I agreed (she was the one who had the money!)

get this-

cigarettes are SEVEN DOLLARS A PACK!!!!!

I know that big tobacco is evil, blah blah- but I wonder how much extra taxes smokers pay? I should get some of that money back from the twenty years I smoked, btw- once you quit the govt should send you a rebate check-

The sad thing is I don't think the money gets allocated towards recovery programs or health care- the things that SMOKERS WHO PAY THE TAXES VOLUNTARILY NEED

anyway-

I had a great vacation week- I did a lot of grilling, hanging out with my kids (we had at least one adventure every day) a few different varieties of adult beverages here and there- one of my bands played a show Thursday night where they were turning people away at the door, went on a few hikes and picnics, got together with a lot of friends, I actually don't regret not 'going away' for my vacation this year

But I will say it sucks to be back at work!

Hope everyone is doing well here-

teach sounds like the chantix is doing the trick, KUTGQ!!!!

Hi, Cess...

I'm glad you came here when you felt homesick...
And I know what you mean, too...
I've seen you over on the other site.
But, no smilies and it's hard to navigate too.
I guess I'm just being grumpy, cuz I'm mad TTS closed! LOL!
Have you seen hammer at the other place? He gave me a nice welcome! LOL!

I looked at the ex plan, and it's just like the quitting plan on TTS.
And I've been to makesmokinghistory. There's lots of information, but, lots of it is irrelevent for us who are quitting, ya know? You should check it out, though.

Chippa,
Sounds like your vacation was good. I'm glad you got a chance to enjoy!
And there's no need to be sorry for anything! LOL!!

$7 a pack! OY! Glad I quit! Mass just went up a dollar a pack for taxes I heard. Rediculous! And they cut the programs for smoke cessation? Gimme a break!

I went to a party on the 4th, where I was the ONLY non-smoker! OY!
I took many walks around the gardens; made the appitizers; helped cook the steaks and in short, did any and everything to keep busy! And it got me through the day.

Soooooo, today, I am One week, two days, 21 hours, 38 minutes and 27 seconds smoke free. That's 198 cigarettes not smoked, saving $59.41. Life saved: 16 hours, 30 minutes. :>)

It's SOOOO good to see you guys here!

Remember to keep the quit and post before you puff!

Shalom!
