Unhappy You are what you Smoke???

It’s been said that you are what you eat. Does that mean you are what you
smoke?

If you are thinking about quitting, getting ready to quit right now, or working at staying smoke-free, here’s an added motivation to stay away from tobacco. Did you know that there are 4000+ chemicals in cigarette smoke? Did you know that 43 of them are known to cause cancer?

Cigarette smoke contains a mix of tar, nicotine, and other toxins. Check out the page on “Cigarette Ingredients” on TryToStop.Org (click on
‘Resources’ on the home page, then ‘Tobacco Products’). Some of the most
noxious ingredients are formaldehyde (embalming fluid), carbon monoxide
(car exhaust), nitrobenzene (a gasoline additive), acetone (nail polish
remover), and arsenic (a poison feared by rats and featured in many
mystery novels).

Choose two or three of your own “favorites” off the list, ones that really
gross you out. Repeat these to yourself when you want to light up, and
you might just decide not to smoke. Remember that the urge will pass in a
few minutes.

If you have already quit, think about what you’d be putting back into your
body if you take even one drag. You don’t really want to be insecticide,
barbecue lighter fluid, and toilet cleaner, do you? That notion just might
help you stay smoke-free!

Shalom!
