| I smoked my last cigarette! After forty years of smoking, I asked my doctor for help and he gave me Chantix. I knew in my heart of hearts that it was time to quit and the Chantix could give me an edge over the addiction and practicing the 12 Steps as I have for the past 19 years I could become a non smoker. I only used the Chantix for 6 weeks as I thought it was giving side effects impacting my muscles. The Chantix is innocent as I still have muscle issues that I am working on with my doctor. Anyways, I only did half the regimen with the Chantix, but following my heart, and using the principles I have learned in AA, I did not use the excuse of stopping the Chantix early to "allow" my self to pick up a cigarette again. Deep down inside me I knew I had another cigarette in me to smoke, but I really did not know if I had another quit. I guess I have approached this quit as my last chance to quit and if I do not hold on tight to the quit, I may lose it and never get it back. For those of you starting your quit, whether cold turkey, with Chantix, or using nicotine replacement, keep it as simple as possible, keep it in the now, and drink lots of water. Water was and is my friend today, more then once water killed the urge and helped me through an urge. I have been quit for 5 Months, 4 Weeks, 1 Day, 14 hours, 36 minutes and 48 seconds (181 days). I have saved $1,307.57 by not smoking 7,264 cigarettes. I have saved 3 Weeks, 4 Days, 5 hours and 20 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 9/23/2007 8:35 PM |

| I took my second Chantix pill today. I went to an Easter dinner, and sit there and visited for 3.5 hours and only thought about a cigarette once...and that wasn't an urge. It had dawned on me that I hadn't thought about smoking. Hopefully this is going to work for me...I feel it's already working to a degree and only on day 2! |
